What is Vitamin A doing in our skin?

As one of the most researched ingredients in skin health, because it doesn’t just work on what we see at the surface.

Retinoids influence gene expression by interacting with receptors within our skin cells affecting how those cells develop, function and behave.

Over time, this can help:
* Support collagen production and improve the appearance of fine lines and photoageing.

* Normalise keratinisation, particularly important for anyone with congestion and acne.

* Support epidermal renewal and improve skin texture.

* Improve uneven pigmentation and overall skin tone.

It’s an ingredient that can influence how the skin functions ⚖️

When my skin is congested, inflamed or just not behaving this is what I reach for.

Your SkinPen treatment just got even better 🖤

We’re introducing regenerative DNA technology from Mesoestetic as an advanced enhancement to our microneedling treatments.

Designed to support the skin’s natural repair process after collagen induction, it’s another way we’re helping you achieve healthier, stronger skin with long-term results.

Six weeks in.

Pigment isn’t the only thing that’s changed.
• The skin is calmer.
• Brighter.
• More even.
• Pores appear more refined.

This is why I love Cosmelan.

Of course I’m wrapped with how it’s managing my pigment, but what really sets it apart for me is the way it improves the overall health of the skin.

✨ A brighter, more even complexion.
✨ Reduced visible inflammation.
✨ Improved clarity and luminosity.
✨ Smoother skin texture.
✨ Skin that looks healthier and more resilient.
✨ Continued regulation of excess pigment production.

My goal is always to create skin that functions better, responds better, and stays healthier long after the initial treatment.

What we’re loving most about Cosmelan isn’t actually the peel itself. It’s the shift in the science behind it.

Most pigment treatments focus on removing pigment you can already see.

But modern science is becoming more interested in why the melanocyte keeps producing pigment in the first place.

That’s where Melaphenone® comes in.

A patented molecule within the newer Cosmelan® and Dermamelan® systems designed to target tyrosinase one of the key enzymes involved in melanin production.

Tyrosinase → Melanin

Pigment isn’t always just sun damage.

It can also be influenced by:
• inflammation
• hormones
• heat
• vascular activity
• oxidative stress

It’s no surprise Serena and I are less interested in quick fixes and more interested in how the skin behaves 3, 6 and 12 months later.

That’s the part of pigment management that’s most interesting. ✨

Nothing goes on the ISLA menu unless I’ve fully immersed myself in it first.

Nothing happens until we understand: the science, the skins response, the healing phase, the downtime, the maintenance and how the skin behaves long after the treatment is finished.

Mesoestetic recently evolved the Cosmelan formula + protocol and now it aligns far more with the way we treat skin at ISLA.

Less aggressive “quick fix.”
More long-term pigment management.

Cosmelan has officially landed at ISLA this winter with an introductory offer.

There’s more very exciting things coming to ISLA.

We’re not interested in needling unhealthy skin. Which means we have a few SkinPen non negotiables.

Not every skin is ready for aggressive correction just because it wants collagen.

If the barrier is impaired, inflammation is high, healing is sluggish or SPF and homecare aren’t consistent, we would rather spend time preparing the skin first than push straight into treatment.

SkinPen works by creating controlled injury, triggering a wound healing response that stimulates collagen production. But the quality of the result is heavily influenced by how the skin heals afterwards.

It’s also why two people can have the exact same treatment and experience very different outcomes.

Serena and I see so many skins that don’t actually need “more”.

They need recovery.

More stimulation isn’t always the answer. Especially when the skin is already inflamed, reactive or struggling to heal properly.

Before we think about advanced correction, we’re always looking at:
* Barrier function
* Inflammation
* How the skin is healing
* What the skin can actually tolerate

Advanced treatments like don’t just rely on the treatment itself. They rely on the skin’s ability to respond well afterwards, creating lasting results.

They rely on the skin being healthy enough to respond well and support the goals we’re achieving together.

Don’t we all want the ‘after’ 🙌🏻

We need to talk more about what it actually takes to get there.

• The preparation.
• The consistency.
• The healing phase.
• The patience.

Advanced skin treatments aren’t magic. It’s consistency, preparation and intelligent correction over time.
