Health Shuttles run at different times, depending on what each community needs. Like our other community programmes, the service is staffed by St John volunteers. If you’re interested in becoming one of our volunteer drivers, we’d like to hear from you.

Funeral Details for Nigel Buck

The funeral for Nigel will be at 1pm on Friday October 30 at St John’s Church, Ohakune. Followed by a gathering at the Lions Den in Ohakune.

Dear Ruapehu community

It is with deep sadness that we share the news that Nigel Buck, husband of Shelagh, has passed away.

The Buck family has a longstanding connection with St Johns Ohakune and the Ruapehu Anglican Parish. Nigel was a long serving St John volunteer, a member of the order of St John and an active community and parish member throughout his life.

The Ruapehu Anglican parish will open St Mary’s church in Raetihi this Sunday from 9.30am until noon for those who may wish to light a candle for Nigel, and/ or share a cup of tea in the hall.

Funeral details will be in the Wanganui Chronicle and Ruapehu Bulletin in the next few days. Funeral will be on Friday 30 October. Details to follow.

Today was a special milestone day for the St John Ohakune station, we celebrated the blessing of the new health shuttle garage. A warm, safe and dry place for our volunteer drivers. Thank you to all who have donated and supported us along the way. A special thank you to King Country Trust for the financial and positive support through this journey over the years. Ben’s shed is testament to the community’s spirit and resilience. Thank you also to all the volunteers family and friends who support them every single day behind the scenes.

Final thank you to Honeycomb Kitchen for the delicious food.
