The Brave Space Welcome to The Brave Space! My name is Amy and I created The Brave Space to support children to thrive physically, mentally and emotionally. Amy x

Empowering young people to thrive through yoga, mindfulness, meditation, sharing circles, emotional wellbeing education, breathing techniques, metacognition, intuitive dance, creative expression, nature connection, gratitude & more. I have big dreams for this initiative, but for now the focus is on offering in-person yoga experiences to small groups of children living in the eastern Bay of Plenty area. In children's yoga the focus is on connecting and having fun, and we empower each child to feel confident in their own skin. Kids yoga encourages a peaceful mind, strong, healthy body and nurtures a creative spirit. I am a qualified yoga teacher for both adults and children. For the latter I was trained by the legendary Michaela Sangi of Yogi Kids Professional Development in Auckland. More information about Michaela and her extraordinary talent can be found here: www.yogikids.co.nz. I have a 6 year old daughter who is my biggest inspiration. Thank you for visiting and please feel free to contact me anytime with inquiries or feedback. I am beyond excited to be able to support our tamariki in this way and look forward to becoming established in the local community. A website is in development - watch this space!

✌️ Peace Begins with Me ✌️

This week at The Brave Space our programs start up again for the final term of the year!

The in-person Spring Empowerment Circle for girls 8-11 years is full, and Free to Be - our new online offering for young wahine - has expanded from one to two groups which will be running concurrently (9-11’s and 12-14’s). This is exciting and will require me to as I navigate higher work demands alongside parenting and life-ing in 2026. Woop! 😂 💪

It’s a good time to remember that - (as I share with the tamariki) - we have more control over our experience than we may realise, with empowering choices available to us everyday.

Thanks for being here ❤️💫🙏

💰Dollars and Sense 💰

Are you feeling the financial squeeze?

Something I’m hearing a lot from parents right now is that they’d love for their child to participate in Free to Be (the online empowerment program for girls 9-14 years), but financially it is too much of a stretch.

I so get it.

Here’s a candid korero about money and my compromise for families, that I really hope will help to ease the stress in Term 4.

(Got a bit teary in this one 😭)

🌳 Real Simple Pleasures 🌳

Three glorious days offline with my daughter, swimming, reading, shinny dipping, forest bathing, befriending the local avifauna, dusting off our tennis racquets, and - the highlight - trying a new outdoor activity together… mountain biking! That dipper got the adrenaline pumping… 😂 🚵‍♀️ 🌲

Everywhere we went we kept seeing lucky angel numbers 777.… confirmation that slowing down, going with the flow and being present in nature was just the ticket these school holidays.💫

Q&A: How do I support within the groups that I run?

Hey guys! I had this great question from a member of the public the other day, and thought it was worth making a short video to share my position on this subject… because if one person’s asking, there are bound to be others wondering too.

To date I have been privileged to support children with ADHD, ASD (Autism) and dyslexia.

If you are interested in Free to Be, the new online empowerment group I am running for girls 9-14 years, I have put the relevant links in the comments below, where you can find all the information you need. 🙏

I hope this helps to shed more light on how I work.

With love, courage and compassion,

Further to my video yesterday about Facebook's ruthless targeting of girls who delete selfies, the book to track down (that they want banned) is "Careless People" by Sarah Wynn-Williams, an ex Facebook employee. "Anyone who is on the internet in the 21st century needs to read this book."
