FREE ONLINE BUSINESS & WELLNESS NETWORKING SESSION THURSDAY 22nd OCTOBER, 9.30am

Are you a businessman, entrepreneur or other male professional or leader in Tauranga or the wider BoP? Do you feel lonely working in your own silo day after day?

Would you like to connect with some like-minded men in the same boat, who you can talk to about the challenges of professional and personal life as a man in 2026?

Running a business, leading a team or managing a demanding professional role can leave you carrying a lot of responsibility, with few opportunities to talk openly about how it’s affecting you. Add financial pressures, relationships, parenting and the demands of home life, and there can be precious little time left for yourself or your friendships.

Even if you spend your day surrounded by people, you can still feel quite alone with it all. Having other men to talk things through with, exchange ideas and experiences, and offer a little perspective can make a real difference.

That’s why I created the Good Man Network (GMN). There are men’s groups, and there are business networking groups, but I haven’t found another network here in New Zealand that deliberately brings both together in this way: combining business value with wellness value.

We make room to talk about our businesses and work, share challenges and opportunities, and build useful professional relationships. We also get to know one another as people, with lives and pressures beyond our job titles. You don’t have to pretend everything is going brilliantly, and there’s no pressure to share anything you’d prefer to keep private.

This Thursday’s online session is open to professional men throughout New Zealand. It’s particularly handy if you live rurally, work from home or find it difficult to get to an in-person group. You can join us from wherever you are, with a cuppa and a little space in your morning to connect.

📅 Thursday 22nd October
🕤 9.30–11.00am NZ time
📍 Online via Zoom
🇳🇿 For men based in New Zealand
🎟️ FREE for first-time attendees

To book your place, head to the Events page of our website (https://www.goodmanwellness.co.nz/events/) and select the online GMN session. Once you’ve booked, you’ll receive the Zoom joining link so you can enter the room on Thursday morning.

If you have any questions, please send me a DM. And if a man you know would benefit from joining us, please pass this on to him 😊

CONNECTION. COMMUNITY. BELONGING.

20/10/2026

Neurodivergence is not a mental illness, but being neurodivergent can make maintaining good mental wellness considerably more challenging.

Research consistently shows that autistic people and those with ADHD experience higher rates of anxiety and depression, as well as an increased risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviours. But why?

Sometimes it’s the neurodevelopmental differences themselves that create challenges. At other times, it’s the consequences of living in a world that doesn’t always understand or accommodate those differences.

Bullying, rejection, communication difficulties, relationship breakdown, financial pressures, social isolation and the exhaustion of constantly trying to fit in can all take their toll.

And for those who have spent years being labelled “lazy”, “difficult”, “too sensitive” or “not trying hard enough”, the psychological consequences can be profound.

This morning I’ll be speaking to the Spectrum Connections online support group about mental wellness in the neurodivergent community.

We’ll explore why neurodivergent people can be more vulnerable to mental health difficulties, some of the challenges experienced within neurodivergent families, and how community-based initiatives, including Good Man Wellness and the Good Man Network, can help people find connection, understanding and support.

I’m looking forward to what I hope will be an interesting and valuable conversation, particularly hearing from people with lived experience.

Because understanding neurodivergence isn’t just about recognising differences. It’s also about recognising the circumstances that can undermine someone’s mental wellness, and what we can do to help.

If you’d like me to deliver this presentation to your organisation, please get in touch. I’ve included a few slides to give you a flavour of what I’ll be covering.

BELONGING MATTERS.

That’s the theme of Mental Health Awareness Week here in New Zealand, and it couldn’t be more relevant to what we’re building through the Good Man Network.

𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲. 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠.

Three simple words, but three things that can make an enormous difference to our professional and personal lives.

Business networking is valuable, of course. But what about having other men around you who understand the pressures of running a business, making difficult decisions, managing setbacks and trying to balance professional success with everything else life throws at us?

That’s why the Good Man Network exists. To combine business value with wellness value, creating opportunities for professional men to build genuine relationships, not just exchange business cards.

And this Friday, 16th October, we’re delighted to welcome Calvin Twigg, Financial Adviser and Founder of TWG Financial Services, as our first GMN Event Partner!

Calvin attended one of our earlier sessions and has kindly offered to support this week’s gathering at the Tauranga Club, including shouting everyone a coffee! ☕

He’ll also share something of his own professional journey, including some of the challenges he’s faced in business, before joining us for our usual conversations and networking.

📅 Friday 16th October
🕤 9.30am to 11.30am
📍 The Tauranga Club
🎟️ FREE to first-time attendees

Whether you’re a business owner, entrepreneur, senior leader or professional looking to build more meaningful connections, we’d love you to join us.

Because professional success matters. But so does having a community where you belong.

TWO FREE MEN'S MENTAL WELLNESS EVENTS IN TAURANGA THIS WEEK!

Could you use some company, a fresh perspective or a chance to talk about how things are actually going? We have two opportunities for men to connect in Tauranga this week, both with free attendance available.

First, the Good Man Wellness Men’s Circle returns to Merivale Community Centre this Wednesday (tomorrow)!

It’s a relaxed, confidential space where local men can talk about whatever is on their minds, listen and support one another. Work, money, relationships, family life, loneliness, or simply having a lot going on are all welcome topics.

I facilitate the conversation, but there’s no pressure to speak, no need to prepare anything and nobody will try to ‘fix’ you. You don’t have to be in crisis to come along.

📅 Wednesday 14th October
🕙 10.00–11.00am
📍 Rangatahi Room, Merivale Community Centre
👥 Open to all men across Tauranga
🎟️ Free for everyone

Then, on Friday, we have our first partner-sponsored Good Man Network event: Coffee with Calvin!

For male business owners, entrepreneurs, professionals and leaders, knowing plenty of people is not always the same as having men around you who understand the pressures of your work and with whom you can speak openly.

The Good Man Network brings together a small group of professional men to share ideas, make useful business connections and get to know one another beyond their job titles. There’s room to ask for advice, compare notes and build relationships that may become collaborations or friendships.

Calvin Twigg, local Financial Adviser and founder of TWG Financial Services, will be joining us and shouting everyone a coffee. He’ll tell us a wee bit about his business, then stay for the conversation and networking.

📅 Friday 16th October
🕤 9.30–11.30am
📍 The Tauranga Club
👥 For male business owners, entrepreneurs, professionals and leaders
☕ Free for first-time GMN attendees, with coffee courtesy of Calvin

Please send me a DM or email [email protected] if you have any questions, and share this with a man who might appreciate coming along.

I’d love to welcome you this week 🙏🏼

TAURANGA MEN’S MENTAL WELLNESS FORUM, 24th OCTOBER 2026

How much do we really understand about the pressures affecting the men in our lives, and what would help us support them before things reach crisis point?

In just under three weeks, the Tauranga Men’s Mental Wellness Forum will bring together lived experience, clinical expertise and community insight to explore that question from some perspectives you might not expect.

I’m co-organising the Forum with Tauranga Te Papa Rotary Club, and in this short video I introduce the event and the speakers who will be joining me.

The Forum is about men, but it is not exclusively for men. If you want to better understand yourself or support a partner, family member, friend or colleague, we would love you to join us.

📅 Saturday 24 October 2026
🕣 Arrival from 8.30am for a 9am start
🕜 Finish at 1.30pm
📍 Bethlehem Baptist Church, Tauranga

You can find the full event information and book your tickets here: https://events.humanitix.com/tauranga-men-s-mental-wellness-forum

Please watch the video and share this with your family, friends and colleagues. You may know someone for whom these conversations would make a real difference. Thank you 🙏🏼

Want to better understand men’s mental wellness, for yourself or someone you care about?

Psychiatrist Dr Caleb Armstrong is joining us at the Tauranga Men’s Mental Wellness Forum on Saturday 24th October to talk about ADHD and emotions. Attached is a short video from Caleb ahead of the day 🙌🏼

He’ll be speaking alongside Richie Barnett, Scotty Harvey and our founder, Dr Adam Harrison, as we explore some of the circumstances and less obvious factors that can affect men’s mental wellness. There’ll also be a panel discussion and an opportunity to ask questions.

You don’t need to have ADHD to come along, and you don’t need to be a man either. The Forum is for men and those who want to better understand the men in their lives, including partners, whānau, friends and people who support men through their work.

Good Man Wellness is co-organising the event with Nick Dangerfield and Tauranga Te Papa Rotary Club, and we’d love you to join us.

📅 Saturday 24th October
📍 Bethlehem Baptist Church cafeteria, Tauranga
🕣 Arrive from 8.30am for a 9am start; finish at 1.30pm

BUSINESS-WELLNESS NETWORKING MEETING FOR MEN

*FREE* FOR FIRST-TIME ATTENDERS

If you work in Tauriko, The Lakes or Pyes Pa, how many other local business owners or professionals do you actually know well enough to call when you need a sounding board?

You may even be working only a few minutes away from someone who would understand the exact business challenge you’re dealing with.

Of course, you don’t build that kind of relationship in one conversation. You need the chance to learn what people do, hear how they think and get to know them beyond their job titles.

That’s what I’m hoping to make possible this Friday morning, when the Good Man Network meets at BloomCo in The Lakes for the first time.

We’ll bring together a small group of male business owners, entrepreneurs, professionals and leaders for two hours of business conversation and connection. You’ll have the opportunity to talk about your work, share ideas and meet men you might collaborate with or refer business to in the future.

There’s also room to speak honestly about the decisions and pressures that come with your work, ask for another perspective or simply discover that somebody else has faced something similar.

📅 Friday 2 October
🕤 9.30–11.30am
📍 BloomCo, The Lakes

If you’ve never attended a Good Man Network meeting before, your first session is FREE.

You can find out more and book your place here: https://www.goodmanwellness.co.nz/events/

I’d love to welcome you on Friday morning 🙏🏼
