Vietnam, through Haylee’s lens. šŸ‡»šŸ‡³

Lantern-lit evenings in Hoi An. A Vespa convoy through the city after dark. Long tables by the water in Da Nang, and a group who flew home with a few extra tailored suits in their luggage.

This is what an incentive looks like when it’s built for the people who earned it. Not a holiday they could have booked themselves. A week of moments they’ll still be telling stories about years from now.

And behind every one of those moments? Someone like Haylee. Up before the group, there after the last drink, making sure it all just works.

Thinking about where your top performers could be heading next? Let’s chat. šŸ’š

Sometimes the best event ideas come from questioning the format.

For the Noel Leeming Conference, that meant taking recognition in addition to the usual evening slot and bringing it into breakfast as well.

Same sense of occasion. Same well-deserved applause. Just with coffee in hand and a whole day still ahead.

A good reminder that thinking outside the box does not always mean reinventing everything. Sometimes it is simply finding other moments to make people feel celebrated. šŸ’š

And just like that… Motive turned SIX IN THE CITY. šŸøšŸ’š

And naturally, we took the theme VERY seriously.

Carrie would have approved of the cocktails. Samantha would have loved the entertainment. Charlotte would have appreciated the styling. And Miranda? Well, someone had to make sure everything ran to schedule. šŸ˜…

There were cocktails, a be-on-the-cover-of-Vogue moment, some fabulous entertainment, plenty of questionable dance moves and a saxophone that absolutely understood the assignment.

All jokes aside, the goal for our sixth birthday was pretty simple. Get some of our favourite people in a room and have a whole lot of FUN.

Six years of big ideas, brilliant people, unforgettable events and plenty of good times along the way.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and celebrated with us!

It’s been a big week at Motive HQ… WE TURNED SIX! šŸŽ‚

Six years since we sat down together with an idea and a pretty simple belief: events could be done better. More considered. More human. Built around the people in the room, not just the run sheet.

Somewhere between then and now, that idea turned into a team we’d back against anyone and a list of events we used to call ā€œone dayā€ jobs.

Six years in, the thing we’re proudest of isn’t the biggest gala or the furthest-flung incentive. It’s the people. The ones who show up for each other on site at 5am, and for our clients every single day.

So thank you. To our team, our partners and suppliers, and every client who has trusted us with the brief.

Here’s to year seven. šŸ’š

We’re more connected than ever.

Messages. Meetings. Group chats. Teams calls. Emails.

And yet, loneliness is still part of the conversation.

Which got us thinking about the role events can play.

We know an event isn’t going to solve workplace loneliness. But it can create something increasingly valuable: a genuine reason for people to spend time together, in person, without a screen or an agenda getting in the way.

Because the value of that time together doesn’t necessarily end when the event does.

A shared experience becomes a shared memory.

The person you happened to sit beside at dinner becomes someone you know a little better on Monday morning.

The laugh you had over something completely unrelated to work becomes common ground.

The team experience, the trip, the sporting moment, the long conversation by the pool. These are the things that build familiarity, strengthen bonds and give people a sense that they’re part of something, rather than simply working alongside each other.

And that only happens if we design for it.

Not by filling every minute of the agenda.

Not by assuming 300 people in the same room automatically equals connection.

And not by forcing ā€œnetworkingā€ into a 20-minute slot.

Sometimes the moments that bring people closer are the ones we leave space for.

And if people head back to work with a few more shared stories, stronger relationships and more people they feel genuinely connected to? We think that matters more than ever before.

What do you think? šŸ’š

Haylee recently took a group to Vietnam on an incentive, and it looked a little something like this…

Lanterns glowing over Hoi An. A Vespa convoy weaving through the city at night. Long-table dinners by the water in Da Nang. And at least one local tailor who probably knew the group by name by the end of it.

The brief? Reward the people who earned it, and create an experience they simply wouldn’t have if they travelled Vietnam on their own.

That’s what we love about a great incentive.

It’s not just about choosing an incredible destination. It’s about what you unlock once you’re there. The places you find, the people you meet, the experiences you share and the stories everyone is still talking about long after they’re home.

And behind all of that? A lot of planning.

If there’s one thing worth making a big deal about, it’s your people. ✨

For the Noel Leeming team, the gala dinner was the chance to do exactly that.

After a full day connecting with suppliers, exploring new ideas and having important conversations at the Noel Leeming Supplier Expo, the evening was all about celebrating. A chance to recognise the people behind the hard work, the wins and everything that had been achieved together.

The best gala dinners are about more than a beautiful room and a great meal. They create a moment to pause. To celebrate. To make people feel seen. And to remind everyone why the work they do matters.

Proud of what’s been achieved. Connected to the people around them. And excited for what comes next.

A pretty special way to celebrate the Noel Leeming team. Congratulations to all of the well deserved winners šŸ’š

Duane recently got back from doing the hard yards in Thailand…

He headed over for TIME 2026, Thailand Innovative Meetings Exchange, getting amongst the Knowledge Exchange, meeting plenty of brilliant industry people and, naturally, doing a little first-hand research into what makes a destination experience actually work.

A bit of learning. A lot of conversations. Some very good local experiences. And at least one cabaret show by the looks of things. šŸ˜‚

The best ideas usually come from getting out there, seeing what others are doing and bringing a few fresh ones home with you.

Nice work, Duane.

If you're considering Thailand for your next conference or incentive, we'd be happy to share what we've learned, including the best new locations, the latest hotel developments, and a few tips for staying ahead of Bangkok traffic šŸ›ŗ
