πŸŽ‰ Happy Birthday to me!

Apparently, not only do I have to organise everyone else's birthdays... I have to write my own birthday post too. πŸ˜…

As a form of protest, here's a photo of me face-planting my cake!

I'd like to say this isn't representative of my usual professionalism, but those who know me may disagree.

Why water? πŸ’¦

When people think about hydrotherapy, they often think about swimming. But for many children, water can offer so much more.

From making movement feel easier to creating a fun and engaging environment for therapy, hydrotherapy can support children in a variety of ways.

In our latest blog, Physiotherapist Abi explores:

πŸ”΅ Why hydrotherapy is recommended
πŸ”΅ How the properties of water support movement
πŸ”΅ Which children may benefit most
πŸ”΅ Why being in the pool can make therapy more enjoyable

πŸ’œ It's Mental Health Awareness Week

Did you know movement can support mental wellbeing too?

Whether it's kicking a ball, riding a bike, dancing in the lounge, climbing at the playground, or walking the dog, movement can help children:
πŸ’š Reduce stress
πŸ’œ Improve mood
πŸ’š Build confidence
πŸ’œ Feel more connected

It doesn't need to be organised sport. Sometimes the best movement is simply play.

When therapy is fun, movement happens naturally.

Some kids get so immersed in their VR physio session, it's like they become part of the game!

Curious about how VR can support therapy goals while keeping kids engaged and motivated? Check out our recent blog for more videos and information πŸ‘‡

What if the best physiotherapy session looked more like playtime than therapy?

At Nurture, we know that children aren't just small adults. Their bodies are growing, their brains are developing, and they learn best when they're engaged, curious, and having fun.

That's why many of our physiotherapy sessions incorporate games, obstacle courses, imaginative play, and even Virtual Reality (VR) technology. While children are busy exploring, balancing, reaching, and moving through exciting challenges, they're also building strength, coordination, confidence, and important movement skills.

For many children, VR turns therapy into an adventure. It's a fun, motivating way to encourage movement and participation while supporting their therapy goals.

Check out our latest blog and videos to see how we make physio feel less like hard work and more like play πŸ‘‰www.nurturepaeds.co.nz/blogs/physio-is-fun

A great few days at the PNZ Physiotherapy Conference 2026! πŸ™Œ

Learning, connecting, and being part of important conversations about physiotherapy in Aotearoa.

We were especially proud to see Mandy join a panel discussing the opportunities and challenges ahead, answering questions and sharing perspectives on the future of paediatric physiotherapy in New Zealand.

Here's to continuing to learn, grow, and advocate for better outcomes for tamariki and their whānau. πŸ’š
