Cats peeing inside, outside the litter tray, can be a frustrating problem in multicat households.
We humans often think our cat needs a feline friend. Some cats enjoy the company of other cats, but many are perfectly happy being the only cat—and may prefer it. Before getting another cat, consider whether your existing cat would welcome one.
If you already have several cats, reducing stress between them can help. One recommendation is to provide a litter tray for each cat, plus one extra. Somehow, adding more litter trays to your house doesn’t feel like much of a solution! But placing them in separate locations gives each cat somewhere to go without another cat blocking access.
First, though, it’s important to check for a medical cause rather than assume stress is the problem.
A Feliway diffuser may help in some cases. If changes to the home environment aren’t enough, medication can sometimes help alongside those changes.
Unfortunately, there isn’t always a quick fix. Scamps can help with information and practical suggestions tailored to your cats and what’s manageable in your home.
