What could you see with a closer look? 🔍

Loupes are still something new for many electrologists, but I’ve been enjoying just how much clearer those small treatment details become. These offer 3.5× magnification with a working distance of approximately 30–40 cm.

That working distance matters. Correctly fitted and positioned loupes can support a comfortable working posture, helping you avoid continually leaning closer to see your treatment area. They do take some getting used to! Finding your focal distance and coordinating your hands within the magnified view takes practice, so give yourself time to adjust.

For me, they’re worth exploring as part of your treatment setup—alongside good lighting, seating and client positioning.
Curious about using them for electrolysis or other detailed treatment work?

A question for the beauty therapists and electrologists here… 👋

Were you taught thermolysis, diathermy, galvanic or blend?

And did your training explain why you would choose one method over another?

Machine terminology can make things confusing. But beneath the names are different ways of delivering heat, chemical action—or both—to the follicle.

Knowing the difference helps you move beyond copying settings and start making informed treatment decisions.

Tell me what machine or method you trained with. I’d love to hear how your training compares with what you use today!

Proudly displayed. Practised every day. 🧡

It’s lovely seeing our AA Training Blood Borne Pathogens and Infection Control certificates on clinic walls alongside other professional achievements.

Behind each certificate is learning that belongs in our everyday treatment routines.

When did you last take a proper look at yours?

Could you confidently explain the difference between cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation? Recognise where cross-contamination could happen? Know what to do following an accidental exposure?

Our online Blood Borne Pathogens and Infection Control course through Skin Intelect gives you an opportunity to revisit these foundations and reflect on your own practice.

Topics include:

• Infection transmission and prevention.
• Hand hygiene and personal protective equipment.
• Cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation principles.
• Sharps handling and waste management.
• Responding to exposure incidents.

Whether you’re beginning your career, returning to treatments or refreshing your knowledge with your team, it’s a practical investment in your professional development.

Electrolysis. Electro-epilation. Thermolysis. Diathermy. Galvanic. Blend… 🤔

Different treatments—or different words? You may have noticed we’re using “electro-epilation” more often at AA Training. It’s a useful umbrella term for the electrical methods we use for permanent hair removal. Here’s the breakdown:

🔥 Thermolysis uses high-frequency alternating current to generate heat. You’ll also hear it called short-wave diathermy or high-frequency treatment.

💧 Galvanic uses direct current to produce a chemical reaction within the follicle. Technically, this is electrolysis.

🔥💧 Blend combines the two.

“Electrolysis” is still the everyday name many of us use for all three—and you’ll still hear me say it! Understanding the words helps us understand what our machines are actually doing. What term were you taught? Pop it in the comments 👇

Know the names—but want to understand the treatment? 🔍

Our electro-epilation training connects the theory with what happens in the follicle, helping you understand your method, select your probe and assess your treatment.

Upcoming workshops:
📍 Wellington: 2–3 November 2026
📍 Auckland: 9–10 November 2026

New to electro-epilation? The full programme includes online learning and two days of practical training.

Already trained? Refresher and advanced options are available too.

Message me with your experience and location, and we’ll find the right starting point.

A slightly different destination for my next training adventure… the Cayman Islands! 🌴✈️

This November, I’m taking AA Training to Cayman Career Academy for practical electrolysis training. I met Jacqui at CIDESCO in Fiji, and that conversation has led to this lovely opportunity. You never know where an industry connection might take you!

There’ll be plenty of probing practice, machine discussions and those little adjustments that can make such a difference to treatment. And knowing me, a few reminders about looking after the skin along the way! 😊

I’ll share some of the journey with you—and hopefully squeeze in a little island exploring between the teaching and travelling.

Northland to the Caribbean. Here we go!

"Learn the Art of Electrolysis Before Year-End "

Imagine starting 2027 with a completely new treatment on your service menu.

Electrolysis is back — and clients are actively looking for permanent hair removal options for the hairs laser and IPL simply can’t treat.

Blonde. Grey. Red. White. Fine hormonal hair.

Our final NZ Electrolysis & Red Vein workshops for 2026 are coming up:

📍 Wellington — 2–3 November
📍 Auckland — 16–17 November

You’ll learn both the theory and practical skills needed to begin offering electrolysis confidently within your clinic, with ongoing support after your training.

This is your opportunity to upskill before the year ends and head into 2027 with a new treatment, a new income stream and a skill that can stay with you for your entire career.

Limited places available.

Message me “ELECTROLYSIS” or visit AA Training to secure your place.
