The Immutability of Truth

Truth will always be truth, regardless of a lack of understanding, disbelief, ignorance, arrogance, meanness, illness, deceit, or even utter stupidity or outright idiocy.

La verdad siempre será verdad, independientemente de la falta de comprensión, incredulidad, ignorancia, arrogancia, mezquindad, enfermedad, engaño o incluso estupidez total o idiotez absoluta.

The nature of truth — actuality and fact — is objective and independent of personal beliefs, attitudes, or states of being.
Regardless of whether it is understood, accepted, or respected, truth remains constant.
It does not change according to individual perceptions or circumstances.

This is one of the fundamental principles of reality, and it matters greatly for intellectual pursuits such as science, medicine, philosophy, and law, as well as for a transcendent or spiritual reality.

However, it is equally important to note that one's understanding and interpretation of truth can be influenced by one's personal experiences, prejudices, and biases, and what one considers to be 'truth' may change as one gains new information and perspectives.

The Cockatoo's Covenant — Spirit Bird as a Living Archive of Land, Mind and Ancestral Memory

"Spirit Bird" is best understood as a triadic covenant between land, mind and ancestry. The red-tailed black cockatoo (Calyptorhynchus banksii (Latham, 1790), Family Cacatuoidea) is not a symbol of something else — it is a participant in a knowing relationship.

Xavier Rudd's encounter demonstrates that consciousness is not sealed inside a skull but arises in the meeting between a prepared mind and a meaning-laden world.

The brain enables the mind; the mind opens onto consciousness; consciousness, in turn, is woven into Country, story and ancestor.

To defend Indigenous land rights is therefore not merely political justice — it is epistemic and ontological preservation: protecting the very conditions under which a certain kind of knowing remains possible.

The song's plea to "keep fighting for your culture now, keep fighting for your land" is thus simultaneously a spiritual injunction, a psychological necessity and a neurological truth — for a mind severed from its land is a mind diminished, and a consciousness severed from its ancestors is a consciousness orphaned.

Lyrics of Spirit Bird by Xavier Rudd

Give it time and we wonder why
Do what we can laugh and we cry
Sleep in your dust because we′ve seen this all before
Culture fades with tears and grace
Leaving us stunned hollow with shame
We have seen this all, seen this all before
Many tribes of a modern kind
Doing brand new work same spirit by side
Joining hearts and hands and ancestral twine, ancestral twine
Many tribes of a modern kind
Doing brand new work same spirit by side
Joining hearts and hands and ancestral twine, ancestral twine

And slowly it fades
Slowly it fades
And slowly it fades
Slowly it fades

Spirit bird she creaks and groans
She knows she has seen this all before
She has seen this all before, she has
Spirit bird she creaks and groans
She knows she has seen this all before
She has seen this all before, she has

And slowly it fades
And slowly we fade
And slowly we fade
Slowly it fades
Slowly it fades

Soldier on, soldier on my good countrymen
Keep fighting for your culture now, keep fighting for your land
I know it's been thousands of years and I feel your hurt
And I know it′s wrong and you feel
You've been chained and broken and burned
And those beautiful old people, those wise old souls
Have been ground down for far too long
By that spineless man, that greedy man, that heartless man
Deceiving man, that government hand taking blood and land
Taking blood and land and still they can
But your dreaming and your warrior spirit lives on
And it is so so so strong
In the earth, in the trees, in the rocks
In the water, in your blood and in the air we breathe
Soldier on, soldier on my good countrymen
Keep fighting for your children now, keep fighting for your land

Slowly it fades
Slowly it fades
Slowly it fades
Slowly it fades

Stand strong, keep the fire burning
Stick together, gotta keep the wheels turning
Forcing companies to stand aside
Forcing government to recognize the power of this tribe
Stand strong, keep the fire burning
Stick together, gotta keep the wheels turning
Forcing companies to stand aside
Forcing government to recognize the power of this tribe
Stand strong, keep the fire burning
Stick together, gotta keep the wheels turning
Forcing companies to stand aside
Forcing government to recognize the power of this tribe
Stand strong, keep the fire burning, keep the fire burning
Thanks for standing with us, Holland
We'll see you again somewhere
Give it time and we wonder why
Do what we can, laugh and we cry
Sleep in your dust because we′ve seen this all before

Gratitude, Contentment, and Wholesome Living

When one lacks a deep sense of gratitude for the abundance, opportunity, and possibilities one's circumstances abundantly present, one is never truly satisfied and endlessly searches for more. One always desires something very different from what one has.
In the search for more, one inevitably engages in truly unwholesome actions and reactions of the body, speech, and mind.

There is no doubt that a lack of deep gratitude (and contentment) can lead to a perpetual cycle of dissatisfaction and an insatiable desire for more.
When one constantly focuses on what one does not have and yearns for something very different, it can create a mindset of always wanting more and never feeling truly satisfied.

This unhealthy mindset often drives two-legged beings (i.e., humans) to engage in unwholesome actions and reactions.
They may resort to unhealthy behaviours, such as excessive materialism, greed, or selfishness, in an attempt to fulfil their desires.
This can lead to negative and dark consequences for themselves and others, as they prioritise their wants above all else.

Cultivating deep gratitude is a true antidote to this cycle.
By recognising and appreciating the abundance, opportunities, and possibilities present in one's circumstances, individuals can develop a sense of contentment and fulfilment.
Deep gratitude shifts the focus from what is lacking to what is already present, fostering a deeper sense of satisfaction and reducing the need for constant searching and accumulation.

Practising mindfulness and reflection can greatly aid the development of deep gratitude.
Taking time to pause, spending time in nature, acknowledging the positive aspects of one's life, and expressing deep gratitude for them can shift one's perspective and promote a more balanced and wholesome approach to life and to all forms of life.
It can also lead to a greater appreciation of the interconnectedness of all things and a realisation of the impact of one's actions and reactions on others.

It is always worth remembering that finding true contentment and deep gratitude is a very personal, unique, and special journey, and it may require tremendous conscious effort and practise.

By cultivating deep gratitude, one can break free from the endless cycle of constant wanting and engage in more wholesome actions and reactions that not only benefit oneself but also those around us, including all forms of life, and, above all, this beautiful, blue ocean planet Earth.

The Unfailing Law of Karma: Intent, Consequence, and the Limits of Retribution

There is an unfailing natural law of karma whereby those who harbour or exhibit a strong or unreasoning desire for (presumed) revenge, and who obsessively go to great lengths to harm others, will not only eventually end up broke and alone, but everything they do will eventually return to them — both the action and the adharmic intent behind it.

The concept of karma refers to the living philosophical and spiritual principle of cause and effect, whereby the intent, attention, actions, and reactions — whether conscious, subconscious, unconscious, or superconscious — of an individual (also referred to as a two-legged one) influence that person's future.

Good intent, attention, action, reaction, and deeds contribute to good karma and future happiness, peace, and tranquillity, while bad intent, attention, action, reaction, and deeds contribute to bad karma and future suffering, pain and discomfort.

This is often summarised in phrases such as 'what goes around comes around', or 'as you sow, so shall you reap'.
These expressions capture the living idea that actions, reactions, intentions, and attentions have consequences, and that those who engage in harmful behaviour will eventually face adverse outcomes.

It is not only the actions and reactions that matter, but also the intent and attention behind them.

However, it is also important to note that this is a living philosophical and spiritual perspective, and its manifestation in life can be highly complex and vary greatly.

It does not always mean that someone who does wrong will necessarily face immediate, instant, or visible punishment, nor that someone who does good will instantly receive visible rewards.

According to certain philosophical and spiritual beliefs, the effects of karma may not even be experienced within the same lifetime.

Moreover, this principle in no way absolves societal or legal systems of their responsibility to ensure justice and maintain law and order.

The notion of karma should not be used to justify or overlook unfairness, injustice, abuse, or harm.

It remains vitally important for society to work actively towards real justice and true equity.

The Limits of Law and the Sufficiency of Virtue

Good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around the laws.

— Plato (Πλάτων, Plátōn; 428/427 or 424/423 BCE – 348/347 BCE)

An astute observation from Plato, though one might argue the matter is rather more complex in practice.

While the core sentiment holds a great deal of truth—that personal virtue surpasses mere legal compliance—it somewhat overlooks the purpose of law in a broader societal context.

Laws are not solely for the wholly "good" or the irredeemably "bad"; they serve as a foundational framework that establishes a shared standard of behaviour, protects the vulnerable, and offers a mechanism for justice when ethics and morals alone prove insufficient.

Moreover, laws can themselves shape and cultivate virtue over time by setting norms and discouraging harmful actions.

So while an individual's ethics and morals are paramount, the law provides the necessary structure within which a civil society can function, acting as both a guide and a safeguard.

A characteristically profound thought from the Athenian, but perhaps best seen as the starting point of a discussion, rather than the conclusion.

Vine of the Soul: A Symphony of Healing and Cure

In the heart of the jungle's ancient embrace,
Where Vine of the Soul whispers to the soul's hidden place,
An eloquent dance of molecules ignites the mind,
Unlocking secrets that time left behind.

DMT, the spirit's ethereal key,
Sways with SIGMAR1 in a cosmic spree.
A receptor of resilience, it lights the way,
Guiding neurons through night to break of day.

MAOIs stand guard, a vigilant pair,
Preserving the visions that DMT lays bare.
Together they weave a tapestry of remarkable light,
Illuminating shadows of memory's flight.

In the corridors where trauma hides,
Vine of the Soul’s call reverberates and guides.
Memories repressed, now a running river in flow,
Released from the depths where only discomfort, suffering, and pain grow.

Neuroplasticity blooms like a flower in spring,
Synaptic connections take wing and sing.
Neurogenesis dances in newfound grace,
Reprogramming anxiety and fear in this sacred space.

The past unfurls like a scroll in the sun,
Where healing and cure begin and anxiety and fear is undone.
Memories once shackled, now set free,
In the crucible of change, they cease to be.

Epigenetic whispers softly reshape,
As SIGMAR1 orchestrates the escape.
Immunomodulation joins the grand design,
In a majestic symphony of life, intertwined.

For PTSD sufferers, a beacon of hope,
In Vine of the Soul’s embrace, they learn to cope.
Traumatic echoes lose their sting,
In the light of understanding, healing and cure take wing.

Yet questions linger in the dawn's first light,
Do new memories eclipse or coexist in flight?
In the synaptic dance ofreirganisation,
Lies the grand mystery of memory's transformation.

Beyond trauma, the journey extends,
To realms where cellular memory bends.
In cancer, diabetes, and autoimmune fight,
Vine of the Soul’s wisdom sheds new bright light.

So let us truly honour this ancient brew,
In its very depths, the promise of healing and cure anew.
For in the heart of the jungle, the spirit's song,
Whispers of paths where the soul grows damn strong.
