I am deeply inspired by his endless rivers of creation, audacious authenticity and devotion to craft. Our home is filled with his serenades, in all their forms, and our lives narrated by his creations. It is a great pleasure to watch his gifts continually unfold and to have been witness to his musical journey over the last few years

This song itself has been balm and tonic for many moments in life, pulling me from a dark corner in ceremony some time ago. The frequency of my beloveds voice and the lyrics of this song arriving as arrows of love and the healing light of love in my heart, calling me back to all that is wise and well in the cosmos. This song holds a special space within

I have heard this song shape-shift and transform into what it is today and had the great edge expanding pleasure of bringing my voice to the backing vocals - I am paying reverence to our partnership that continues to call us both to rise into our fullness

Woven into the maternal matrix of life, speaking the mother tongue of our ancient grandmothers, I pledge my allegiance to the soil, to the womb, to the great remembrance

Barefeet on the ground, sisters by my side, fiercely standing in opposition to the forces that seek to separate, deconditioning everything we’ve been taught and retrieving the wisdom of our blood and bone

I feel us arriving home to the promise land of all we envision and understand is possible. Creating a legacy of love for the ones yet to come and placing rose petals on the earth that they will inherit and walk upon

Women have always known how to tend the threads that hold life together — the hearth, the child, the body, the garden, the grief, the ritual, the story. The most radical thing we can do is remember how to tend life

To honour & preserve life in an over-culture determined to destroy it. To tell the truth of our bodies, stories, wounds & wisdoms. To reclaim our rightful seat as creator, our unique expressions & our intertwined relationship with the Earth

This is women’s work. It’s radical, always has been - until the new dawn rises

Until then, let us revere the life ways of the feminine, create economies of care, preserve oral traditions & the telling of myth, tend the Earth as if our lives depend on it, reclaim the wisdom of the natural body, restore our rituals & gather women + our allies

This is how

I trust in the transformative power of women’s spaces because I have received it, witnessed it & stewarded it. I have witnessed the knowing look between two women when they hear their own story reflected back to them. I have watched women remember their essential truths because another woman held space for her. I have seen years of repression, shame & guilt leave the body on a river of tears. I have revelled in women reclaiming their body, beauty, power & wisdom through the exalted hails of other women. I have received messages from women who have spoken truth to power & reimagined themselves in the holy image of the Mother because of the clarity gained

A well-held women’s space has the capacity to change the trajectory of a life, to rewrite the wrongs of the past & to create the pathways forward for humanity. It’s beautiful in it’s softness, ferocious in it’s rage, playful in it’s humour, wild in it’s expression & always perfect in it’s unfolding constellation

Women’s work has often been beneath the surface, carried in whispers - in the preservation of forbidden knowledge, from hand to hand, heart to heart, womb to womb. The lineage of women’s liberation is not only found in academia and protest. It is found in women who kept life, knowledge, land, story & one another alive

Since I was a little girl, my driving desire has been the seeking of truth. To move towards truth, to uncover what has been hidden, to understand what gestates beneath the surface and, in whatever way I could, to share the truth what I found

As I prepare to open Mother Tongue, I’ve been reflecting on the journey that brought me here, and the threads that have woven themselves into this tapestry. I’m understand the hands of time, how all rivers return to the ocean, and how all is conspiring for the larger picture

At 15, my desired career path was that of a foreign correspondent, I wanted to tell the truth of faraway places I was dreaming of, seeing clearly the injustice in the world we live in. I went to study Journalism and International Relations, ready to put pen to paper, before seeing confines of the media and the distance between documenting injustice and actually reaching its roots

As soon as I could, I packed my backpack and set off on what would become 14 years, and counting, of searching for truth. That searching took me through South and Southeast Asia, Central and South America, and eventually all the way home again. I barely hung my hat. Through new lands, to the feet of many teachers, into living traditions, classrooms, communities, temples, forests, mountains and into the deeper landscapes of myself

In my early and mid twenties, I taught at an inner-city public girls’ school in Northern Thailand, and went on to study a Master’s Degree in Gender Studies specialising in Post-Colonial Ecofeminism. I worked for Women’s organisations and international development and environmental justice NGO’s in communications and as an editor for UNEP research programmes

But I would return to the same haunting question - what happens when we try to change the symptoms without reaching for the root?

The Ancient Intelligence of women gathering in circle, in ceremony 🕯️

A technology we have harnessed since the dawn of time - red tent, fire lit cave, temple of hathor & inanna, under the full moon, brigid’s well, in the depth of the grandmother jungle, shakti pithas, knelt at the hearth of our homes

We reclaim this practice with reverence as a continuation of tradition, an unbroken line passed daughter to daughter, with the ferocity of beauty, celebration and wisdom that lives in the hearts of all women everywhere

We talk about the magic of women gathering, an undeniable truth, but beyond beauty, connection, tears and laughter is the remembrance of ancient councils of clan mothers, village wise women and assemblies of priestesses

Here we retrieve wisdom we have long since forgotten - put to sleep by the over culture - codes of healing, maps of harmony, tools for collective transformation, recommitment to who and what we are

In circle and in ceremony we are bathed in the light of love, served sacrament, held, strengthened, renewed, inspired and impassioned

The more we gather, the more we remember

The more we practice this practice the stronger it runs through our veins

The greater we become together, the greater the chance we have of surviving patriarchal ecocide

This is the reclamation of woman, of mother culture, of matriarchal society

Now to turn the karmic wheel once again
complete your evolutionary flight
take your jewel from the lotus flower
and gift it back to the waters

To fight the good fight
the only way we know how
in service to Her
for the blossoming of all life

Comes a time when you are full
no need for another modality to be ready
or another certificate to prove your worthiness
simply take your sovereign seat in the circle
and gift your heart medicine to the world

Draw from the ethereal down to the realm of the earth
bring the mystic to the mundane
the Goddess to the grit
for She is everywhere

You have all you need already within
arrived earthside prepared for your holy mission
with a line of wise women standing behind you

Let’s bring coherence, awareness and methodology to your earthly gifts, so that you share your heart work with purpose, authenticity and integrity, creating meaningful impact in your community and the ripples beyond

You don’t need to learn more, you simply need to remember how to live it - how to tend a hearth, how to listen to the plants, how to skilfully and artfully hold the full force of the multifaceted feminine, how to lead from presence rather than performance
