Last Friday, at my sister's house, my aunt was showing everyone the massage gadget she bought online.

Pretty box. Nice remote. Six pressure settings, she said.
The seller told her it is FDA approved.

I asked her, approved saan?
She did not know.

I turned the box around.
No FDA registration number anywhere. No certification mark.
Just the word "FDA" printed on a sticker.
The way "leather" gets printed on a bag that is not leather.

My aunt got quiet for a second.
Then she laughed a little and said, "Basta gumagana naman, ang sarap sa likod."

I did not argue with her about that part.
I just opened my phone and showed her how to check a real FDA registration number. The one that's supposed to be on every legitimate product, supplement or gadget.

Took less than two minutes.

She squinted at her own box after. Turning it over twice, like she was seeing it for the first time.

She still has the massage gadget. She still uses it every night.
But now she knows exactly what she is holding, and what she is not.

Comment "FDA" and I will send you exactly where to look. 👇

Save this if someone you love is on maintenance medicine.

Maintenance medicine doesn't cure you.

It maintains you being sick.

My son was on weekly injections for a year and a half. Exactly as the doctors prescribed. FDA approved. Proper dosage. Everything by the book.

Then the labs came back.

His liver was damaged. His kidneys were damaged.

You see?

The treatment that was supposed to help him was destroying his organs little by little.

Here's what I want you to do.

Read the labels. Ask for the lab results. Check the FDA registration number yourself.

Because maintenance medicine keeps you coming back. It keeps you dependent. It keeps you sick.

Our body can only handle FOOD. Natural things. Not chemicals and chemicals and chemicals.

I rebuilt my son's health with FDA-registered supplements and certified wellness products. Better organs. Less pain. No trouble.

You don't have to stay on maintenance forever.

Okay?

"FDA registered" on a label does not mean the product is safe for you. It means the product exists in the FDA system. That's it. That's all it proves by itself.

I see sellers put "FDA approved" on a post and stop there, like that's the whole proof. You see? That's not conscientious. If you can't show me the actual registration number, and you can't tell me what else is in that capsule besides the active ingredient, the sticker means nothing to me.

My son took weekly injections for a year and a half. Initially, we did not see anything being damaged, until the doctor wanted his liver and kidneys tested. Nobody sat us down and explained what was really in what he was taking, why? I don't want any more of this to happen to my family. That's why I check now, every time.

Registration number. Functional claim. Fillers and extenders, written plain, not hidden behind "natural."

A supplement can be FDA registered and still be full of fillers. Certified does not mean clean. It means checked. You still have to look yourself, okay?

I'm not saying don't trust FDA registration. I'm saying don't stop there. Analyzing your medicines, and your supplements, should be part of what you're supposed to do, all the more if you've already been damaged once by trusting a label without asking anything.

So why do so many sellers still sell the sticker instead of the substance?

Save this if you're still buying supplements without checking these 3 things first.

I learned this the hard way.

My son went through weekly injections for a year and a half. For a chronic condition. The doctors told us it was safe.

Then they found the chemical medicine had already damaged his liver and kidneys.

So now I check everything. Everything.

Here's what I want you to do.

Before you buy any supplement, check these 3 things on the label:

1. FDA registration number. Not just "FDA approved" written somewhere. The actual number you can verify.
2. The functional claim. What does it say it does? Is it specific or vague?
3. Fillers and extenders. What else is in the capsule besides the active ingredient?

Because our body can only handle food. Natural things.

Not chemicals combined and combined with fillers nobody tells you about.

The thing is, most people don't look at the label properly. They see "certified" or "FDA checked" and they trust it.

But certification and registration are two different things.

Registration means documentation. Analyzing. Proper dosage.

I check all three now. For my son. For my parents who have high blood pressure. For myself.

You see?

PS: What do you check on a supplement label before buying?

Save this if you check labels before you buy supplements or gadgets.

I used to think FDA registration meant the same thing as certification.

It does not.

FDA registration is for supplements and medicines. It means the facility and formula were reviewed and approved by the FDA before the product reached your shelf.

Certification is for gadgets and wellness devices. It means the gadget passed safety and performance standards from a recognized body.

Two different proofs.
Two different product categories.

The thing is, most people only check one.

They see a sticker and assume everything is safe. But a certified gadget does not mean its supplements are FDA registered. And an FDA registered supplement bottle does not mean its partner device passed certification.

My son's liver and kidneys were damaged after a year and a half of chemical injections. Not from a supplement. Not from a gadget. That is what taught me to stop trusting a sticker and start checking the actual proof, every time.

Here's what I want you to do.

Before you buy a supplement, search the FDA registration number on the FDA website. Before you buy a gadget, ask for the certification from a recognized body.

Two checks.
Two proofs.
No assumptions.

You see?

P.S. What do you check first when you buy health products?

Sunday morning, at my parents' house, my father tried to stand up from the plastic chair by the door and couldn't do it in one try.

He pushed on the arm rest first. Then he rocked forward, once, twice, and on the third try he was up, one hand still pressed flat against the wall until he found his balance. My mother didn't look up from what she was doing. She's used to it now. I wasn't.

I asked him if his knees were bad again and he said the usual, little by little lang, not that bad. Little by little. That's what he always says about his knees, about his blood pressure, about everything, until little by little becomes he can't get up from a chair without a wall to hold.

I didn't say anything about supplements that morning. I just sat with him a while, watched him settle back down slower than he stood up, and thought about how many mornings like this one happen in houses where nobody is watching. No injury, no fall, no emergency room story. Just a father, a chair, and a wall.

He asked me to hand him his slippers. I did. He didn't ask for anything else, and I didn't offer anything else. Not that morning. When do you start paying attention, before the wall, or after?

Maintenance medicine is not there to cure you. It is there to keep you exactly sick enough to keep coming back.

I know that sounds harsh. But look at the name itself. Maintenance. Not treatment, not cure. Maintenance. You take it and take it and take it, and the sickness stays. It doesn't go away, it just gets managed. Managed forever, for high blood pressure, for the pain in the knees, for whatever the specialist is treating this year.

That's the part nobody wants to say out loud. A medicine that only manages your sickness and never cures it is not failing. It is doing exactly what it was designed to do. It doesn't cure you, it maintains you being sick. You keep buying it because you're still sick, and you're still sick because you keep buying it. All the more that you combine one prescription with another, all the more your body is doing the work of processing chemicals instead of healing.

Our body can only handle food. Not maintenance. Food actually gets used by the body and then it's gone. Maintenance medicine you take today, and tomorrow, and the day after, forever, because forever is the whole point.

I'm not saying every doctor prescribes this way on purpose. I'm saying the business model rewards it either way, on purpose or not. Nobody profits from you getting better and staying better. Somebody profits from you needing the next refill.

If a treatment has kept someone on it for years and the sickness never actually leaves, who does that arrangement actually benefit?

My father bought salt medicine at the pharmacy. It just costs twenty pesos. Little by little, he said, just for the swelling, nothing big.

He kept taking it. Little by little. Combine and combine, with whatever else the doctor already had him on for his blood pressure. Nobody told him not to.

Months later I was standing beside him at the hospital cashier, and the girl behind the counter slid the bill across to us. Forty five thousand pesos. To remove the water that the twenty-peso medicine helped build up in his body over all those months.

I looked at that number, then I looked at him. He was so quiet. Not complaining, not asking why, just quiet, the way he gets when something is already done and there is nothing left to say about it anymore.

The line behind us kept moving. People with their own bills, their own quiet faces. Nobody in that line looked surprised.

I kept that receipt. I still have it in a drawer at home.

Now when someone tells me a supplement or a medicine is cheap and it works, I think about that counter. I think about the girl sliding that piece of paper across to us, and my father's face when he read the number.

So tell me, what is the "little by little" medicine in your own house right now that nobody has actually checked?
