OUR STORY
From Three Stones to a God-Given Mission
Every great journey begins with a small dream.
For me, that dream began when I was only seven years old.
In our backyard, I would gather three stones and arrange them to make a little stove. I would place an old pot lid on top as my frying pan, gather pieces of firewood, and happily cook alogbate leaves.
To others, it was simply a child playing.
But looking back today, I see it differently.
I believe God was already planting a seed in my heart—a love for cooking, a love for food, and a desire to care for others. I did not know it then, but that little childhood game would become part of a much greater purpose.
As I grew older, that seed was nurtured through the health ministry of my Uncle Ted and Auntie Annie.
Uncle Ted, a Malaysian doctor, and Auntie Annie, a Filipina, faithfully conducted health lectures in our church whenever they came home to the Philippines. Auntie Annie is also a second-degree cousin of my father, Edgar, making their influence on our family especially meaningful.
As a young child, I listened to their health lectures and watched their dedication to helping people live healthier lives. Through them, I began to understand that food is more than something we simply eat.
Food can nourish.
Food can strengthen.
Food can bless.
Most importantly, I learned that caring for our health can be part of honoring the One who created us.
The seed planted in my childhood continued to grow through the years.
Then came the story of Daniel in the Bible—a young man who chose to remain faithful to God, even when surrounded by a culture that encouraged him to compromise.
His example inspired the vision behind Daniel’s Plant-Based Restaurant.
What began as a childhood passion eventually became a God-given mission:
To help people experience better health through delicious, wholesome, 100% plant-based food while giving glory to God.
Daniel’s is more than a restaurant.
It is a ministry.
Every meal we prepare is an opportunity to share God’s love through healthy food, warm hospitality, and compassionate service.
We believe that caring for our bodies is part of honoring our Creator. We hope that every person who walks through our doors will not only enjoy a delicious meal, but also leave feeling healthier, happier, welcomed, and encouraged.
This journey would not have been possible without the love and support of my very loving husband and my two beautiful daughters. They have been part of this journey in so many ways—encouraging me, standing beside me, and believing in the vision God placed in my heart.
Their love has reminded me that God often works through the people He places beside us.
And sometimes, when I look back, I am reminded of that little girl in the backyard—with three stones, an old pot lid, a few pieces of firewood, and a handful of alogbate leaves.
She could never have imagined where that little kitchen would lead.
But God knew.
What began with three stones has, by God’s grace, become a mission to serve our community—
one meal,
one family,
and one life at a time.
Thank you for being part of our journey.
“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”
