❤️‍🩹 On August 19, 2026, the Rural Health Unit of Pilar
(RHU-Pilar) conducted an adolescent health initiative titled "Empowering Youth through Peer Education"🧒 👭 at the Pilar Municipal Gymnasium.

The activity brought together Senior High School students (Grades 11 and 12) from both Pilar National High School and Caridad National High School. 🏫
❤️‍🩹 The campaign aimed to equip students with accurate health information and empower them to serve as peer educators and advocates within their school communities. ❤️‍🩹

Key Topics Covered
🧠 * Mental Health & Well-being: Focused on destigmatizing mental health issues among adolescents. Speakers discussed managing academic and social stress, recognizing early warning signs of anxiety and depression, adopting healthy coping mechanisms, and accessing local counseling resources.
♀️ * Reproductive Health: Addressed adolescent development, bodily autonomy, and responsible decision-making. Discussions highlighted the physical and socio-economic risks of teenage pregnancy, setting personal boundaries, and utilizing adolescent-friendly health services provided by the RHU.
👫 * HIV/AIDS & STI Awareness: Educated participants on the transmission pathways and prevention of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. The session focused on debunking common myths, reducing social stigma surrounding PLWHIV (People Living with HIV), and highlighting the importance of voluntary testing and early medical intervention.

Through interactive lectures, open discussions, and distributed health information kits, the campaign established a strong foundation for student-led peer support networks across both participating high schools.

🫁 TUBERCULOSIS AWARENESS :Promoting Respiratory Health at Brgy. CARIDAD, Pilar SDN

The health drive continued into the next day, August 14, as the RHU Pilar team moved to the shores of Barangay Caridad Beach for a Tuberculosis (TB) Awareness Outreach.
Gathering local residents and visitors alike, health workers held educational sessions explaining the common signs and symptoms of TB, highlighting that the disease is both preventable and fully curable with timely treatment. Community members were strongly encouraged to participate in active case-finding efforts to protect their households and neighbors.

The beachside outreach yielded concrete results: 8 patients step forward and submitted sputum samples for laboratory TB testing, marking a vital success in local case detection and community disease management.

A Continuing Commitment to Public Health
Through focused community outreach and strong partnerships with the DOH, RHU Pilar continues to demonstrate that proactive care and accessible health education remain key drivers in safeguarding the health and well-being of Pilarnons.

❤️‍🩹 RHU Pilar x PhilHealth "Yakap Caravan" 🤗

From June 16 to June 18, 2026, the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Pilar, in close coordination with the PhilHealth Local Health Insurance Office, successfully rolled out the PhilHealth Yakap Caravan. This multi-day, grassroots outreach aimed to bridge the gap between essential health-administrative services and residents in communities.
By taking public health services straight to the barangays, this initiative directly aligns with the mandates of the Universal Health Care (UHC) Law and the Department of Health’s (DOH) 8-Point Action Agenda—most notably implementing the core vision: “Bawat Pilipino, ramdam ang kalusugan” (Every Filipino feels the reality of healthcare).
Deployment Schedule
The caravan adopted a localized approach, establishing service hubs across three strategic barangays over a three-day period:

Date
Target Location

📌 June 16, 2026
Barangay Katipunan

📌 June 17, 2026
Barangay San Roque

📌 June 18, 2026
Barangay Maasin

Delivered SERVICES 🚚
The caravan functioned as a mobile one-stop shop to reduce the travel expenses and logistical burdens usually faced by rural residents. Key services provided on-site included:
• New PhilHealth Registration: Enrolling previously unregistered residents to bring them into the national healthcare safety net.
• Member Record Updating: Facilitating data corrections, updating dependents, and upgrading membership statuses to ensure frictionless future claims.
• Primary Care Provider Orientation: Introducing residents to PhilHealth's Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP) benefits, enabling them to maximize coverage for free consultations, laboratory checks, and maintenance medicines.
• General Inquiry Resolution: Addressing specific, individual PhilHealth concerns and clarifying local health-benefit allocations directly through desk officers.
Impact & Strategic Value
By treating primary care registration as a proactive wellness mission rather than a reactive hospital requirement, RHU Pilar has successfully expanded the local health safety net. This guarantees that vulnerable families in Katipunan, San Roque, and Maasin have immediate, official access to primary care physicians and financial risk PROTECTION ❤️❤️
