After Savasana (co**se pose), we gently roll onto our right side and pause for a few breaths before sitting up. This creates a gradual transition from deep relaxation back to an upright seated position.
In some traditional yoga interpretation, the left side is associated with feminine energy, the receptive, intuitive and nurturing aspects of ourselves. Resting on our right side symbolically allows the left side to soften, free from active movement and reminding us that we don't always have to hold, do, or give. We can simply receive and rest.
So never rush your rest. Sometimes, stillness is the most important part of the practice.
