A very common question from our subscribers: Can you eventually stop your weight loss or diabetes medication, or is it a lifetime commitment?

Doc Ivan explains: These medications are tools that work while you are using them. Because obesity and type 2 diabetes are chronic conditions, many patients require long-term maintenance to keep the weight off and blood sugar stable.

Normal Fasting Sugar (FBS) but HIGH HbA1c?

FBS only shows you a "snapshot" of your sugar right now, but HbA1c shows your average sugar over the last 3 months. It’s possible your levels are spiing after meals (post-prandial) without you realizing it!

Should you stop your thyroid meds before a cancer check? 🚫💊

Today on Doc Ivan Answers, we are answering a very important question from Ma’am Beth Sevilla: Can you stop Levothyroxine before a Thyroglobulin blood test?

The short answer: It depends on your doctor’s specific protocol. 🩺

To check for thyroid cancer recurrence, your TSH needs to be elevated to make the Thyroglobulin test accurate. Doctors usually achieve this in two ways:
1️⃣ Thyroid Hormone Withdrawal: Stopping Levothyroxine for a few weeks (which can make you feel fatigued).
2️⃣ Thyrogen Injections: Getting a special injection so you can safely stay on your medication.

Disclaimer: For educational purposes only. Never alter your thyroid cancer monitoring plan without your endocrinologist's direct instructions.

1, 2, or 4 shots a day? 💉🤔

Today, we’re looking at how often you really need to inject insulin. It actually depends on your diagnosis:
Type 1 Diabetes: Since the body has no insulin, daily injections are required—often up to 4 times a day (baseline + before meals).
Type 2 Diabetes: Many only need it once a day, but if the condition is more severe, it could be more.
The Good News: Many effective oral tablets are available now! Doc Ivan usually saves insulin for very high sugar levels that pills can’t control or if there is kidney damage.

“Doc, can type 2 diabetes really be reversed?”

This is one of the most common questions patients ask — and also one of the most misunderstood.

In this video, I explain the truth based on Diabetes and Endocrine Guidelines

We discuss:
✔️ The difference between diabetes remission and cure
✔️ When type 2 diabetes can go into remission
✔️ The role of weight loss and lifestyle changes
✔️ Who has the highest chance of remission
✔️ Why diabetes can come back — and how to prevent it

The good news is that type 2 diabetes can improve significantly, and in some cases, remission is possible with proper treatment and medical guidance.
This video will help you understand your condition and what you can realistically achieve.
