Healthcare should not depend on how far someone lives from a hospital.

Across Balochistan's remote, geographically challenging areas, CHD is bringing essential healthcare closer to communities through its Mobile Health Units initiative.

The Mobile Health Units provide a range of primary healthcare services under one roof, including antenatal and postnatal care, routine immunization, diagnostic services, essential medicines, and mental health screening.

With more than 32,000 consultations delivered to date, the initiative is helping communities access essential care closer to home, reducing the challenges of distance and strengthening primary healthcare where it is needed most.

Through Mobile Health Units, CHD is working to build a stronger, more accessible community health system for underserved populations across Balochistan.

Dr. Mah Talat, Executive Director of the Community Health Directorate (IHHN), spoke at the 1st International Health Conference 2026 (NIHC’26) hosted by NUST.

In her session, Redefining Healthcare in the Digital Age, Especially in Rural Settings, Dr. Mah shared IHHN’s experience with the Haripur Virtual Care Model, demonstrating how digital connectivity can bring specialist expertise closer to communities in rural Pakistan.

Through a virtual hub-and-spoke model, local healthcare facilities are connected with specialists, supporting providers with real-time clinical guidance and enabling access to care for mothers and newborns.

The model has supported more than 12,500 telehealth consultations, while contributing to increased access to skilled deliveries and antenatal and postnatal care, alongside ongoing mentorship for frontline healthcare providers.

The session highlighted how technology can help extend healthcare expertise beyond geographical boundaries and strengthen care for communities in underserved settings.

100 Major Surgeries Completed at Mir Ghulam Qadri Memorial Hospital, Baiker

Mir Ghulam Qadri Memorial Hospital in Baiker has completed 100 major surgeries, including emergency and critical cases.

For people living in Baiker and nearby remote areas of Balochistan, having surgical services available locally means timely treatment without the need to travel long distances for care.

With a 24/7 Operation Theatre, the hospital is providing surgical services to patients who need urgent and specialised care.

This achievement has been made possible through the continued efforts of the hospital’s surgeons, anaesthesiologists, nurses, OT team, and support staff, who work together to provide care to patients around the clock.

The Community Health Directorate, IHHN, continues to support access to essential healthcare for communities in remote areas of Balochistan.

In Village Dakyan Sia Bah Toor, a family of seven children had been missed by previous immunization efforts. Thanks to the proactive, grassroots work of our dedicated IHHN vaccinator, Khushal Khan, this changed. During a routine household visit, Khushal identified these children as zero-dose children who had never received life-saving vaccinations.

Through respectful counseling, Khushal helped the father, Mr. Khaney, understand the vital importance of protecting his children from preventable diseases. Today, all seven children are linked to EPI services and are on their way to completing their vaccination schedules.

We are proud of our team’s commitment to reaching every child. Together with our partners, we are ensuring that no child is left behind.

A frontline midwife’s skill and calm under pressure helped save a mother and her twins.

What began as a high-risk twin pregnancy quickly became a critical emergency during referral from Nokundi Facility.

The mother was being referred to a BEmONC facility for emergency surgical backup after the second baby was suspected to be in a breech position. Recognizing the potential risks, a senior midwife accompanied her in the ambulance.

During the journey, labour progressed rapidly.

The midwife safely delivered the first baby in a vertex position. When it became time to deliver the second baby, she managed the complete breech presentation with skill and composure, using appropriate manoeuvres to safely deliver the second twin.

Immediately after delivery, she carried out Active Management of the Third Stage of Labour (AMTSL) to reduce the risk of postpartum haemorrhage.

The mother and both newborns were safely brought back to the facility for further monitoring, with no maternal or neonatal mortality and no postpartum haemorrhage.

This is a powerful example of how skilled midwifery care, timely referral, and preparedness for obstetric emergencies can make a critical difference, even when an emergency unfolds on the road.

Behind every safe delivery is a healthcare worker ready to act when every second counts.

Taking Malaria Diagnosis & Treatment to Far Homes of Balochistan (Sept 9–10) -Training of Trainers 🩺🌿

Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) is expanding its Integrated Community Case Management (iCCM) model across 17 districts in Balochistan, bringing vital diagnosis, treatment, and health education directly to remote, underserved communities.

To kick off this phase, IHHN hosted a two-day Training of Trainers in Quetta on September 9–10, 2026, bringing together 32 healthcare professionals. They sharpened skills in managing Malaria, screening for TB, raising awareness on HIV/AIDS, and mastering community facilitation. These master trainers will now cascade their knowledge down to local frontline workers, strengthening household-level care across the province.

A special thanks to our facilitators, Balochistan Government Health Officials, and partner programs, including the LHW Program, Vector-Borne Disease (VBD) Control Program, and TB Control Program Balochistan, for their ongoing collaboration and support in driving this vital work forward.

Closer care. Stronger communities. Healthier Balochistan. 💙

Not every struggle is visible. Behind a smile, a routine day, or a simple “I’m fine,” someone may be going through more than they can express.

This World Su***de Prevention Day, the Community Health Directorate (IHHN) joins the global call to Change the Narrative on Su***de by encouraging conversations around mental health that are open, compassionate, and free from judgement.

As part of its commitment to comprehensive healthcare, CHD recognises that caring for communities means caring for both physical and mental well-being. Through Pur Umeed Zindagi, CHD’s mental health programme, efforts are focused on creating greater awareness, encouraging people to seek support, and helping communities better understand mental health.

A conversation may not solve everything, but it can let someone know that they do not have to face their struggles alone.

Let’s start the conversation.
