Why Does a Baby’s Heartbeat Stop? ❤️‍🩹

Hearing that your baby’s heartbeat has stopped is one of the most heartbreaking experiences for any parent. While it can be devastating, understanding the possible medical reasons may help provide clarity and guide future pregnancy planning.

Common Causes

🔹 Chromosomal Abnormalities
Especially in early pregnancy, genetic abnormalities may prevent the baby from developing normally. In many cases, this happens naturally and is not caused by anything the mother did.

🔹 Placental or Umbilical Cord Problems
Problems affecting the placenta, blood flow, or umbilical cord can sometimes reduce the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the baby.

🔹 Maternal Health Conditions
Certain conditions, particularly when uncontrolled, may increase pregnancy risks, including diabetes, high blood pressure, clotting disorders, and severe infections.

Warning Signs to Never Ignore

• Vaginal bleeding or spotting with pelvic pain or cramping
• Severe abdominal or pelvic pain
• A significant or sudden decrease in baby’s movements in later pregnancy
• Any sudden concerning change in pregnancy symptoms

⚠️ Important: A loss of pregnancy symptoms alone does not always mean that the baby’s heartbeat has stopped. Only a medical examination and ultrasound can confirm fetal wellbeing.

When Should You Seek Medical Care?

If you have heavy bleeding, severe pain, or reduced/sudden absence of fetal movements, seek immediate medical attention.

Regular antenatal checkups and appropriate ultrasound examinations are important for monitoring your baby’s growth and wellbeing.

سوال:
ڈاکٹر صاحبہ، سیزیرین (C-Section) کے بعد زخم اور اسکار کو مکمل ٹھیک ہونے میں کتنا وقت لگتا ہے؟

Dr. Zahida Anjum:
سیزیرین کے بعد جلد کا زخم عموماً تقریباً 2 ہفتوں میں کافی حد تک بھرنا شروع ہو جاتا ہے، لیکن اندرونی ٹشوز کی مکمل healing میں کئی ہفتے سے چند ماہ لگ سکتے ہیں۔

یاد رکھیں، باہر سے زخم ٹھیک نظر آنا اس بات کی ضمانت نہیں کہ اندرونی healing بھی مکمل ہو چکی ہے۔

اسکار شروع میں سرخ، سخت یا تھوڑا سا ابھرا ہوا محسوس ہو سکتا ہے، لیکن وقت کے ساتھ عموماً نرم اور ہلکا ہوتا جاتا ہے۔ اس کی مکمل شکل بہتر ہونے میں 6 سے 12 ماہ یا اس سے بھی زیادہ وقت لگ سکتا ہے۔

اپنے زخم کو صاف اور خشک رکھیں، ڈاکٹر کی ہدایات پر عمل کریں، اور جب تک ڈاکٹر اجازت نہ دے بھاری وزن اٹھانے یا زیادہ جسمانی مشقت سے گریز کریں۔

اگر زخم سے پیپ یا بدبو، بڑھتی ہوئی لالی یا سوجن، شدید درد، بخار، یا زخم کھلنے کی علامات ہوں تو فوراً اپنے ڈاکٹر سے رابطہ کریں۔

🌸 نوزائیدہ بچوں کے والدین کے لیے ضروری ہدایات!

تمام بچے زندگی کے پہلے چند دنوں میں پیدائشی وزن کا تقریباً 5–7% اور کچھ بچوں میں 10% تک وزن کم کر دیتے ہیں، اس لیے عموماً گھبرانے کی ضرورت نہیں ہوتی۔

👶 پیدائش کے 24–48 گھنٹوں کے اندر اور پھر زندگی کے 7–10 دن کے دوران بچے کا وزن، صحت اور دودھ پینے کی کیفیت ضرور چیک کروائیں۔

🤱 ماں کا دودھ نوزائیدہ بچے کے لیے بہترین غذا ہے۔ بچے کو مناسب مقدار اور وقفے سے دودھ پلانا اس کی صحت اور نشوونما کے لیے انتہائی اہم ہے۔

⚖️ عموماً بچے کا پیدائشی وزن 10–14 دن میں دوبارہ حاصل ہو جاتا ہے۔ اگر وزن مناسب رفتار سے نہ بڑھے، بچہ دودھ پینے میں دشواری کرے یا کوئی غیر معمولی علامت نظر آئے تو ماہرِ اطفال سے فوری رجوع کریں۔
