I am not who I was last year. I’m not even who I was last week.
I’m using the toughest season of my life to initiate myself into a version of me I didn’t know existed until a few days ago. My voice is lower. My eyes look different. I feel it in my bones, and in every fibre of me.
Because a few days ago, in a deep, deep self-hypnosis, I guided myself to a dark forest with fire burning at the center. And I walked into it. I let it take everything that was ready to go: the past, the old identities, the good girl who needed everyone to be okay before I was okay. I didn’t come out feeling lighter because life still felt heavy. But I came out carrying only what was mine.
Hard seasons are initiations. And I’m not talking about how suffering is noble (this idea make me want to roll my eyes), it isn’t, but because some versions of you can only be released at a temperature a cushy life never reaches. The season brought the heat and you get to decidewhat it burns.
If you’re in your own fire right now, let your old identities burn. And rebuild your life on what remains.
This is the exact work we do inside THE REMEMBERING, my 3-month 1:1. DM “REMEMBER” if your season has brought the heat, and you’d like someone to hold the torch with you.
