Shoulder pain? Here are 5 common causes you should know. 🦴

Shoulder pain can affect more than just your workouts. It can make everyday activities like reaching overhead, getting dressed or even sleeping comfortably a challenge.

Some common causes include:
• Rotator cuff problems – Pain or weakness when lifting your arm
• Frozen shoulder – Stiffness and restricted movement
• Shoulder impingement – Pain during certain arm movements
• Shoulder instability – A feeling that your shoulder may slip out of place
• Shoulder arthritis – Pain and stiffness due to joint changes

While these conditions can have similar symptoms, the underlying causes — and the most appropriate treatments — may differ.

An accurate diagnosis is the first step towards the right treatment plan. Not every shoulder condition requires surgery; many can be managed with non-surgical options, depending on the diagnosis.

At Beacon Orthopaedics, we believe in evidence-based care tailored to each patient’s needs. Your recovery is at the heart of what we do.

Your first orthopaedic consultation - what should you expect?

At Beacon Orthopaedics, the first step is understanding you - your symptoms, your concerns and how your condition affects your everyday life.

During your consultation, Dr Bryan Wang will assess your symptoms, perform a relevant clinical examination and discuss the possible causes of your condition.

If further investigations are needed, these will be discussed with you. Together, you’ll explore the appropriate treatment options, best suited for your lifestyle.

No two patients are the same. Understanding your condition is the first step towards finding the right way forward.

When it comes to orthopaedic injuries, different scans help us see different things.

X-ray - to assess bones, fractures and joint alignment
CT scan - to examine bone structures in greater detail, especially complex fractures
MRI - to evaluate ligaments, cartilage, tendons and other soft tissues

But here’s something important: the most advanced scan isn’t always the most appropriate one.

The right imaging depends on your symptoms, clinical examination and the condition being investigated. Not every injury requires a scan, and not every scan is necessary for every patient.

At Beacon Orthopaedics, we believe good care starts with understanding the problem and choosing the right approach for you.

The right assessment. The right answers. A clearer path to recovery.
