Why can two people with the same cancer receive different treatments?

Because cancer care is rarely one-size-fits-all.

Doctors consider many factors before recommending a treatment plan — including the stage and subtype of the cancer, biomarkers, a patient’s overall health, previous treatments and what matters most to them.

This is why personalised cancer care is so important. By looking at the whole picture, care teams can recommend an approach that is appropriate for each individual and their circumstances.

At NHG Health, cancer care brings together different specialties and perspectives to support patients throughout their care journey.

Because no one cancer is exactly the same — and neither is the care behind it.

New leadership. Same commitment to the North. 🏥

We are proud to announce Dr Wong Kirk Chuan as the next CEO of Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and Yishun Community Hospital, succeeding Prof Chua Hong Choon. Dr Wong took on the role of CEO-Designate from 1 November 2026 and will assume the CEO role on 1 February 2027.

Dr Wong's strong track record in connecting care across primary, community and acute settings makes him well placed to bring KTPH and YCH forward as one system for residents in Northern Singapore.

And to Prof Chua: thank you for showing us that caring for our people and caring for our patients are never separate things.

Episode 6: Martyn Chek — Senior Medical Social Worker, KTPH & YCH, and Helen Liew — Senior Executive, HRM, KTPH & YCH

The most meaningful support is often the kind people don't see.

To celebrate our Allied Health & Pharmacy professionals, we've created a short film series on the quiet strengths behind the care — and the people who carry them every day.

Martyn is a Senior Medical Social Worker at KTPH & YCH, walking alongside families through some of their most uncertain and difficult moments. His mother Helen, a Senior Executive in KTPH's Human Resource Management team, has spent her career quietly holding people together in her own way — showing up, bringing people closer, and proving that small actions can make a real difference.

Neither of them does it for the recognition. They simply show up, day after day, for the people who need them.

Strength is often quiet. But its impact can be felt everywhere. 💙

🌱Greener Care, Better Health – Together!

Singapore’s healthcare sector is coming together to build a greener, more sustainable future!

At the Singapore Healthcare Sustainability Symposium 2026, NHG Health, National University Health System (NUHS) and SingHealth reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing greener clinical care and strengthening the circular economy in healthcare, alongside community care and private healthcare partners.

🌏 Held at Woodlands Hospital as the main event of the inaugural NHG Sustainability Week, the Symposium brought together more than 500 healthcare professionals, industry partners and academic leaders to exchange ideas, share best practices and explore innovative ways to reduce healthcare’s environmental footprint without compromising patient care.

The event was ~graced~ attended by Guest of Honour Dr Janil Puthucheary, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, and Ministry of Education.

💚 Because caring for our patients also means caring for our planet. Together, we can make greener care a reality!

Episode 5: Patrick Caramat, Respiratory Therapist, TTSH, and Yvonne Caramat, SSN, TTSH

Some legacies are never written down. They are lived, witnessed, and quietly carried forward.

To celebrate our Allied Health & Pharmacy professionals, we created a short film series shining a light on the quiet strength behind the care — and the people who give their best, every day.

For Patrick, that strength has always been close to home. His mother, Yvonne, has been a nurse in TTSH’s Operating Theatre since 2004 — more than two decades of showing up, caring deeply, and giving her best to every patient and every team she serves. Growing up, he watched his mother come home from long days at the hospital, carrying the quiet demands of a profession built on skill, compassion, and service. She never asked him to follow in her footsteps.

But sometimes, you don’t need to ask. A life lived with purpose can speak louder than words. A mother’s dedication can become a son’s inspiration.

And a passion for caring for others can find its way into the next generation.

What began as a mother simply doing what she loved became, in time, part of her
son’s own journey in healthcare.

That is the beauty of a true legacy — it isn’t something we leave behind. It is something we live, and someone else carries forward.

Strength is often quiet. But its impact can be felt everywhere. 📷

Cancer affects more of us than we may realise.

In Singapore, cancer remains a significant health concern. While survival rates have improved over the years, the number of people affected reminds us why awareness, early detection and timely care continue to matter.

Knowing the numbers is a start. Knowing your risks, recognising possible signs and seeking care early can make a difference.

What better way to show appreciation than with a song? 🎤

At this year's Allied Health and Pharmacy Event 2026, a surprise video was played — featuring Prof Joe Sim (our Group CEO), Prof Karen Ng, and Prof Chua Hong Choon singing Heal The World by Michael Jackson, accompanied on piano by physiotherapist Brandon Lip.

The video was a tribute to our Allied Health and Pharmacy colleagues — the dedicated individuals who show up every day to make a difference in the lives of our patients. From the therapy rooms to the pharmacy counters, this one's for you.

Thank you for all that you do. 💙
