Learning isn’t about checking a box. It’s about opening yourself up to entirely new ways of experiencing what you love.
For years, learning from Mike Tamburo was at the top of my list, so when the opportunity came to join his 5-day adventures in gong music at in Wales, I took the leap. It was hands-down the best thing I’ve ever done for myself.
This was nothing like anything I’ve learned before. It was just pure music; rhythm, timing, listening. So much of it was about tuning into the people around you, not just your own gong. Lots of group work, building rhythms together, creating something as a room rather than just as individuals.
I’ve been doing this work since 2018 and i’ve never learned in an environment like that before. Everybody who joined was so passionate about the gong, and honestly some of the best, most supportive and welcoming people i’ve ever met. I miss being in that space already.
A huge thank you to our hosts Shion Buschner for looking after us and keeping us nourished with the most amazing food all week!
If there’s one major takeaway from this experience, it’s to never stop learning. Even when you think you know your craft inside and out, you don’t. There is always a deeper layer, a new perspective, and room to grow.
So grateful for this trip, these people, and this journey. 🎶✨
