Should you feel the need to go big and do all the things this weekend, then do all the things. But do it for yourself, not because you think you should or because you’re aiming to please others.
There is a voice inside that speaks without words. Listen closely. If your body + spirit calls for rest, then remember
“It’s okay to rest.”

Hey, Everyone. Soleyah here, from your favorite local yoga & juice shop.
As I watch studios all across the country close their doors, including some of my favorite teachers and studios, I am reminded how unbelievably fortunate I am / we are.
Six years ago, a piece of start-up guidance from one of my teachers: “Remember your intentions, and what you stand for. Most of all, be patient. Remain sedulous; great studios don’t happen overnight, and it will feel like an uphill journey for a long time.”
She was absolutely right.
Just when the studio had reached its highest potential as a lucrative business, we were told to shut our doors while new safety regulations were put in place. We moved classes online. I think it’s safe to say we were all nudged out of our comfort zones (some of us maybe pushed 🤪). Many of you made generous donations to help keep the studio afloat. We were put to the test, and we learned how to put our yoga practice into real life action. Yoga is a life practice. It is not just a fitness routine limited to an hour on the rubber island.
Let’s repeat that. Yoga here is not fitness. Yoga teaches life skills based in ancient philosophical roots. Take care of your body/mind with an attitude of friendliness. Be present. Learn how to sit still, be quiet, truly listen, see things more clearly, and act skillfully.
I’ve grown immensely as a teacher, as well as a student over the past five years. I’ve watched so many others grow, too. I absolutely adore creating conscious space- a safe haven in this ridiculous world. . . It’s something I do not take lightly, nor for granted. I’ve been many yoga practitioners’ first yoga teacher; HSY was your first studio. Some of you were my first students. Some of y’all have been with me since day ONE! Whew!
So this...THANK YOU. Big thanks to the dedicated yogis who have helped in holding the glue of the studio together during these extraordinary times. You all are the reason HSY can live to see what other exciting happenings this year holds. To those who are looking forward to getting back in the gorgeous studio space, I see you. Let’s talk. We’ll do this when the time is right.

Last week we celebrated HapiSoul Yoga’s fifth year of existence. We yoga’ed in the park, and then we partied just a little.
These are unprecedented times we’re living in.
All we can ask of ourselves is to keep showing up for life, even when things are uncomfortable and challenging.

How you speak about your body is contagious. How you treat yourself sets the bar for how others treat you, and how others treat themselves.
Try replacing negative self-talk with love notes for your body. Even if you don’t believe at first, keep it up. Repeat kind words over and over until eventually, you begin to believe in them.
Every cell in your body is eavesdropping on the thoughts in your mind.
No one can love you the way you can love yourself. I know this because I have undone a lifetime of conditioning. It has taken practice, but I love my body and it loves me right back.
The sexiest thing a woman can wear is confidence.

Today is one month from that Friday the 13th day that would so greatly impact our lives. We are standing at a crossroads between our old way of living and an opportunity to create a new life right in front of our eyes. Painful and difficult, yes.
This is an important time to consider & identify some of the things that weren’t working before. How can we shift shape or let them go altogether? How can we move on with an open, courageous heart? What do we carry and what do we leave behind? This moment in time is an invitation, encouraging us to be open, brave, and fully present. To be still and to really reflect- in reality. What is happening right now? When we hold on to the way things used to be too tightly, we are prone to disappointment.
When we cling to possessions, people, jobs, and experiences, we put ourselves at odds with the nature of existence, which is always changing. The stream of consciousness is like a rope running through your hands: if you cling too tightly, you will experience rope burn.
Choosing the freedom to let experiences come and go welcomes space for peace & contentment. Your mind & body will open, and love may flow freely; this is the natural expression of the unclenched heart.
May we all be bathed in His light this Easter,
no matter how dark the situation.
