DAV36 In Abilene Texas

10/16/2026

Good morning Veterans,

Welcome to another weekend! Time seems to go faster than years past.

DAV 36 will be at the Abilene Convention Center’s Gun Show this weekend. Saturday 9-5, Sunday 10-4. If you plan to be there, please stop by our table.

As the weather changes—cold rain and the sun now sets early, please take extra precautions in your outdoor activities, especially on the roads.

Today’s Friday Funny, we show that “inside” MOSs, AFSCs, etc., do participate in outdoor events when deployed overseas.

This Friday, October 2, Abilene’s H&H Beverage on 1626 Denali Drive is hosting a community fundraiser benefiting Cisco Lake Veterans Camp from 4–7 pm.

Pulled Pork, Tastings, and a Silent Auction Included.

The camp is open to all veterans, but especially encourages for combat veterans to take advantage of the retreat. With basic lodging, meals, and access to outdoor activities like fishing and hiking, the camp offers far more than a physical escape; it provides emotional support and community.
