Happy Pharmacy Week!

This week, we recognize and celebrate our incredible Haak’u Health Center Pharmacy Team!

From our pharmacists and pharmacy staff, each team member plays an essential role in providing safe, effective, and compassionate care to our patients and the greater Acoma community.

Whether it’s filling prescriptions, providing medication education, ensuring patient safety, coordinating medication access, or working behind the scenes, your dedication makes a meaningful difference every day.

Pharmacy Week is an opportunity to recognize the hard work, teamwork, and commitment that often go unseen but are vital to the success of our health center.

October is Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month!
When you think of ultrasound, pregnancy imaging may be the first thing that comes to mind but ultrasound does so much more.

This safe, noninvasive imaging technology plays an important role in evaluating and diagnosing a wide range of health conditions, including heart disease, vascular conditions, tumors, and abdominal concerns.

Throughout October, Haak’u Health Center recognizes the skilled ultrasound professionals who use this technology to provide valuable information that helps guide diagnosis, treatment, and patient care.

Thank you to our ultrasound professionals for their expertise, dedication, and commitment to the health of our patients and community!

Haak’u Health Ceneter would like to welcome Shaundine Duncan!

Shaundine Duncan, Registered Dental Hygienist, I am passionate about providing personalized gentle dental care to help patients achieve healthy, confident smiles. A graduate of the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene, I have 13 years of experience in this field. Working in Dentistry I have truly enjoyed patient interaction, building a trusting rapport with patients and making their visits feel comfortable and stress free. I am excited to take care of the patients of Haak’u Health Center.

Outside of work, I am a proud mother to two young adults. I grew up on the Navajo reservation in Tohatchi, NM but have called Albuquerque my home for the last 20 years. My family is a very important part of my life, and I enjoy spending time with them and watching them grow into their own. I enjoy all sports, reading, watching movies, going to local coffee shops and being creative.

Public Health Nursing and Infection Control will be posting Measles Alert signage at Haak’u Health Center clinic entrances as a proactive infection prevention measure.

At this time, there is no known measles activity or exposure at Haak’u Health Center or within our local community. The signage is being posted as part of HHC’s ongoing commitment to remaining alert, preventing potential exposures, and continuing to provide excellent and safe care to our patients and community.

With recent measles cases reported in Valencia County earlier this month, and because measles is a highly contagious airborne illness, HHC is taking proactive precautions to ensure we are prepared should an individual with suspected measles symptoms or exposure present to our facility.

Our priority is prevention. By remaining vigilant, maintaining appropriate vaccination coverage, and following established infection prevention procedures, we can reduce the potential for exposure while continuing to provide safe, high-quality care.

Thank you for your cooperation and continued commitment to the health and safety of our patients, staff, and community.
