Sweet daytime birth today. Second baby and second homebirth. Big brother was such a great help, and listened to the baby’s heart with his own stethoscope with me during the newborn exam. Once newborn exam was over mom got resettled and baby went back to skin-to-skin with mom for some more nursing. He is a great and motivated nurser! ❤️

Fastest birth I have ever seen last night!!! Mom called after 2 contractions and baby was born in 10 minutes! I hadn’t even gotten all my clothes on yet. 😝 Talked the family through the birth while I was getting dressed. Then drove the 30 minutes and got there in time for the placenta and a newborn exam. Big sister was in the room sleeping the whole time and woke up after the newborn exam and was so happy to see her new sibling!!

December babies started with a bang this morning at 37 weeks. 😊 First phone call at 6:06am baby born at 7:01am. Sweet baby girl was joined by her 3 siblings for a bit of a sibling love fest. So adorable. ❤️

3 births this week (so far). 2 on Halloween and one this morning on the mom’s birthday!! Sometimes at births we are also the photographer. 😊

I was invited to speak at Life University’s ICPA Club and a former client came in with her children and I was gifted this piece of artwork. 😍 Another former client is faculty there and was also there as a backup speaker in case I was at a birth. So great to speak about homebirth and also get to see former clients!

“It's increasingly common for healthcare companies to have binding arbitration agreements, which stipulate that if a dispute arises, it will be settled by an arbitrator rather than a judge or jury. Since binding arbitration is a private process, it also means that companies can better protect their image and reputation by avoiding negative publicity.

In a Bloomberg Businessweek featureopens in a new tab or window, reporter Heather Perlberg shed light on this trend toward binding arbitration and how it's affecting patients. On the one hand, she explained, "The argument [in favor of] arbitration hinges on the rising costs imposed by malpractice lawsuits, which some policymakers and doctors say have made medicine more litigious and led to worse care." On the other hand, it's pretty apparent that binding arbitration has much more to do with protecting private equity than prioritizing patients' well-being.”

It is our very own Debbie’s birthday today 🎂 Please help me to wish her a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

I’m not sure there are words that could accurately capture her - but I feel confident that those who know and love her, already know what a gift she is to us all. Her love and passion for supporting women is evident in every aspect of who she is. Lover of extra cream in her coffee, excellent Mexican food and never says no to breakfast any time of day 😉 But her truest love in life is her family. Her husband, two children and five grandchildren and (almost) 3 great grandbabies are her sun, moon and stars.

Introducing Eden Marie, weighing 8lbs 7oz 💗This cherub was welcomed to amazing parents last week during a coveted daytime birth !! Her momma was incredible in labor.. leaning into her intuition and total surrender of bringing her baby earth-side!! All mothers are magical, but watching such a wise and wonderful first time momma is always such a gift!

It’s no surprise that delivery day and the first time holding your baby bubbles up your gratitude and adoration for your birth team, but it’s only a culmination of the love, support, education and encouragement received in the leading 9 months. From the moment we started “shopping” midwives, after speaking with Amanda over the phone, I knew we had a fit. Her voice and her perspective on pregnancy and birth were perfectly aligned. However, we still wanted to do our due diligence, so we visited two offices… but once we walked into Debbie and Amanda’s sanctuary, we knew we found our support team. The energy of the room radiated with love and compassion.

Debbie’s infinite wisdom and maternal demeanor, complete with knitting needles, is unparalleled. Every thorough appointment was full of natural and holistic advice to help through pregnancy, and prepare for delivery and postpartum. Sessions are always full of physical, mental, emotional and general health and nutrition check ins. Drawing upon Debbie’s wisdom during a challenging pushing phase was everything I needed to bring my angel earth-side.

Amanda’s gentle and nurturing approach to care is nothing short of amazing. It’s clear she has a genuine compassion for her patients, and sees every woman’s pregnancy and delivery experience as individual, unique and profound for mama. She is highly intuitive and can pick up on the slightest energy shift, and that was so welcomed during some tense late pregnancy fluctuations.

These women are goddesses of their craft, and we couldn’t be more grateful to have had their wisdom and support throughout every phase of our first pregnancy. They honored our preferences to have the home birth of our dreams for our first baby, and despite some challenges, they remained calm and encouraging and trusted mama’s instincts and intuition, bringing our dream to fruition.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you ladies for facilitating the most amazing miracle and gift we have ever received. we are eternally grateful for you both. 💕

This little “cheesey” (vernix covered) baby girl was born during the day! on Monday at 40 weeks and 2 days. This picture was 2 hours after the birth and her hair and forehead are still covered. Isn’t she just precious! ❤️
