Long-distance medical transportation requires more than just a ride—it takes experience, compassion, and the right team. This weekend, we completed a transport for an individual moving from Florida to Georgia, ensuring a smooth and comfortable journey with the help of our partners at ComForCare.

Leading this trip was Christopher Griffith, one of WellWay’s exceptional drivers. As a former EMT and volunteer firefighter, Christopher brings a level of care and professionalism that sets the standard for what non-emergency medical transportation should be. With his expertise, along with a dedicated CNA and the support of BRODA seating for maximum comfort and safety, we made sure this trip was stress-free for both the passenger and their family.

We are thrilled to announce the first-ever addition to the WellWay team: Christopher Ray Griffith! His arrival marks a huge milestone in our journey, and we couldn’t be more excited to have him join us.

Christopher, 51, hails from Fairmont, West Virginia, and moved to Georgia just last year to be closer to family. He brings with him over two decades of dedicated service as an EMT and Volunteer Firefighter, serving several EMS agencies and fire departments. Not only has Christopher saved lives in the field, but he’s also served as a board member and Vice President for the Valley Volunteer Fire Department, where he helped organize and fundraise for the Fire Safety House trailer to educate and protect Marion County communities.

In addition to his hands-on experience in emergency services, Christopher has a strong background as a 911 telecommuter for various counties and as a police communicator for the West Virginia State Police. His dedication to service extends deeply into his personal life as well—he cared for his parents during their illnesses, showing the same compassion and dedication that he brings to work.

Outside of work, Christopher is an avid fan of the West Virginia Mountaineers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He loves fishing and exploring new places, and we look forward to seeing the energy and expertise he’ll bring to WellWay.

Recently, we had the absolute privilege of transporting Carden Wyckoff—someone who truly embodies strength, resilience, and heart. Carden, who lives with muscular dystrophy, has dedicated her life to advocating for better, more reliable, and accessible transportation for all. While many of us are waiting for the world to catch up and improve these services, Carden is one of the few who refuses to wait—she’s taking action to make that change happen now.

Her passion and determination to ensure equal access for everyone inspires us deeply, and we’re beyond grateful she trusted WellWay to be part of her journey. Carden, we respect you, we admire you, and we’re with you every step of the way.

Yesterday, the WellWay team had a fantastic time attending the Stand-Up for Seniors annual golf tournament at Bridgemill, also known as Tee Off Fore Seniors. Huge thanks to De Gale and everyone involved for putting on such a spectacular event—the day went off without a hitch! The weather was perfect, the people were amazing, and the food was top-notch.

We’re always honored to support Stand Up for Seniors and will continue to do so in any way we can. A special thanks to Cesar Alonso from Home Helpers Home Care for joining our team and sparking the beginning of what we know will be a great friendship!

Last Thursday, we had the privilege of attending the second Stand Up for Seniors “Insider Tips to Aging” Educational Symposium at Canton First Baptist Church. a.k.a. The VAC is a non-profit organization established in 2000 by volunteers who raise money and awareness for the needs of low-income seniors and senior veterans in Cherokee County.

We are so grateful to have been able to attend the Stand Up for Seniors Educational Symposium last Thursday! The resources and knowledge shared with those who attended were unbelievably valuable.

If you’re a senior yourself or have an aging loved one, please consider attending the next Symposium in September. These events are completely free and give you and your family access to information/services that most aren’t aware of. Knowledge is power!

My father, Peter J. Wenzell, was a beloved and respected figure known to all he encountered. I had the privilege of witnessing a side of him that few others saw. As a former D1 collegiate ice hockey player at the University of Michigan and Michigan State University, he took a keen interest in my hockey journey. Our shared weekends at showcases, tournaments, and games not only nurtured my athletic growth but also deepened our bond.

Through my father’s health challenges, surgeries, and eventual paralysis, his unwavering support for my hockey dreams never wavered. I learned the true meaning of “character” and “integrity” as he faced adversity with grace. When the time came for me to care for him, I did so willingly. In those ten years of driving him around, I witnessed firsthand the daily struggles he endured and the meticulous care he required to prevent further discomfort.

In moments of hardship, my father transitioned from being just a dad to becoming my closest confidant and ally. Our shared experiences in the van taught me invaluable lessons in empathy and resilience.

Today, I’m officially launching WellWay in your honor. Thank you, Dad. This was never possible without you.

I am Patrick Wenzell, the founder of WellWay. My father, Peter J. Wenzell Sr., faced immense challenges during his 10-year paralysis, particularly with transportation due to the industry’s lack of quality service and training. To ensure his care, we purchased our own vehicles with wheelchair-accessible ramps/lifts, yet faced frequent breakdowns leading us to rely on unreliable NEMT providers.
