It can be hard to listen more than we talk. The good Lord gave us two ears and one mouth for a reason. When we talk more than listen, we pass up big opportunities to build more wisdom in our life. When people talk, they talk about their feelings, their life, their goals and dreams. They share about experiences and adventures. Listening in means we can learn from them and make a bigger impact in their lives as well as our own.
We are often eager to make our voice heard. Waiting only to speak and possibly completely tune out the valuable information, knowledge and wisdom that the other person is sharing. Instead of rushing to add some input, take a moment to quiet those thoughts. Begin to start listening more than preparing to talk.
Relationships, our careers, our lives will all benefit. Tune in, learn and grow.
If you make listening and observation your occupation, you will gain much more than you can by talk. Robert Baden-Powell
