Another celebrity post for today🎉

Arin Joseph Hanson, also known as Egoraptor, is primarily recognized as a YouTuber, but he’s dabbled in acting, animating, producing, and even rapping! He is known for his Flash cartoons, as well as being the co-founder and co-star of the YouTube Let's Play series GameGrumps.

Hanson has created numerous shorts and web series on Newgrounds and YouTube! Throughout his videos he can be seen both exhibiting symptoms and even talking about ADHD in interviews. He is extremely funny and, if you love to watch game walkthroughs or goofy shorts, look up his and his friend, Danny’s, YouTube channel GameGrumps!

If you’d like to check out a deep dive into Arin’s story, check out this interview by Conversations by Curtis on YouTube!

Fun Fact!

October 22nd is International Stuttering Awareness Day (ISAD), or International Stammering Awareness Day, and was first held in the UK and Ireland, in 1998.

ISAD is now an annual global celebration dedicated to raising awareness about stammering (also known as stuttering) and promoting understanding and support for individuals who stammer. It’s a day to shed light on the challenges faced by people who stammer and to encourage a more inclusive and empathetic society. ISAD aims to destigmatize stammering and provide resources for those affected – an estimated one percent of the world's population!

The stuttering awareness ribbon is sea-green.

Come for the memes, stay for the info!

This was one of the main concepts of this group when our founder, Chuck Merriman, was in the first stages of creation back in 2021/2022. We have leaned heavily into the memes, and rather light on the info so far, but we would like to start the change now!

First, by providing a link to people conducting neurodivergent studies so that we can promote and support them throughout their entire project.

Second, by using a weekly post to provide links to many different neurodivergent research participation opportunities with a short description of each study.

All research participation is 100% voluntary and is not required by anyone.

Feel free to look in the future and find a study that would interest you or would be relevant to someone you know!

Thank you for your help in understanding neurodivergence better!

Paris Hilton always bothered me. I guess to was due to 'The Simple Life' series she did. She seemed so fake.

Fast forward to a year or so ago, and me now understanding my neurodivergence, and Paris'. And seeing the interview where she said the persona in 'The Simple Life' was totally fake. I saw through her mask, before I knew what a mask was.

There's a lot I understand now that I didn't understand then.

Anyways, here's her video from her song 'ADHD'.

October 8th is dyslexia awareness day!

Dyslexia is a type of neurodivergence that affects up to 20 percent of the population and represents 80–90 percent of all those with learning disabilities, according to The Yale Center for Dyslexia and Creativity.

Dyslexia is not a sign of intelligence lapse! It impacts people with all levels of intelligence – Albert Einstein had the disability himself. Learners who are highly intelligent but also have one or more learning or developmental disabilities are called “twice exceptional” or “2e.” Up to 6% of students served by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act are 2e, according to the Davidson Institute. These students are often overlooked.

Why? Because they can leverage their strengths to mask and compensate for their difficulties, making their learning differences and challenges harder to spot. Unfortunately the struggles with learning often make it harder to identify their giftedness. We often see this with other neurodivergent conditions as well.

Fun fact, this funky font used below is called OpenDyslexic and it was created by Abbie Gonzalez. She released it through an open-source license so it would be accessible for anyone to use in order to help the community. Learn more about the font or download for your own use at OpenDyslexic.org.
