Hover over a button. Does the color change? That part isn’t a rule.

Weekly WCAG Watch: contrast on hover.
WCAG doesn’t require your button to change at all when someone hovers.
What it does require is that the text on the button stays readable either way.

With Title II deadlines coming, it’s worth getting right the first time.

Thanks to Ken Bigler, Head of Accessibility Engineering at Intuit, for this week’s intro.

Video Description:
Ken Bigler, Head of Accessibility Engineering at Intuit, opens the episode. Matthew Dyer, Operations and Testing Manager at AccessAbility Officer, then narrates over an online store’s product page: a shirt listing with size options and an “Add to Cart” button, using that button to show what WCAG does and doesn’t require of hover states. A heading names the criterion: Contrast Exception on Hover, WCAG 2.1 AA. Ends on the WCATea Pod logo.

Can’t tell where you are on a page? Afraid your Meta glasses are on the way out?

Shashank from BarrierBreak and Troy Otillio from Aira got real about their accessibility pet peeves at M-Enabling 2026. Do you agree with them?

Thanks for answering our question, guys!

Running a medical, dental, or PT practice? Quick question for you:

If a patient in a wheelchair walked in today, could you weigh them? Could they get onto your exam table?

If you're not sure, you're not alone. But it matters now. Since July 8, 2026, practices that receive HHS funding (like Medicaid) need at least one accessible exam table and one scale that works with a wheelchair.

A few things we hear practices get wrong:

"We have one, it's just in the back."
If a patient has to wait for it, that's still a problem.

"Only our patients can complain."
Family members and caregivers can file claims too.

"Our website's fine."
Your site and patient portal need to be accessible by May 11, 2027 if you have 15+ employees.

We put together a plain-language guide with every deadline and the 6 things to fix first. Worth a read before your next staff meeting.

How many Disney parks do you think Ken Bigler has visited?
Drop your guess below!

(Hint: the answer is in the episode, and it's impressive.)

Ken, Head of Accessibility Engineering at Intuit, has traveled from Disney parks all the way to Antarctica... 🐧, and he's got stories about what accessibility really looks like along the way.

Plus, the corded remote story. We couldn't stop laughing. 😂

Small favor?
