We'll be there not only to honor survivors, celebrate hope, and remember loved ones, but also to encourage our community to take an active role in their health.

Regular cancer screenings can help detect cancer early, often before symptoms appear, when treatment may be most effective. That's why we'll be sharing information about recommended screenings, helping people understand their risk factors, and encouraging everyone to prioritize preventive care.

Don’t forget about this important screening for breast cancer! Begin at age 40 and get a mammogram at least every two years to help catch and treat breast cancer early.

Need a mammogram but don't have insurance? The Cancer Services Program of the Greater Capital Region is here to help and offers free mammograms to eligible people without insurance.

Is family history a risk for breast cancer?

Yes, but only about 5-10% of breast cancers are linked to family history.

So, even if you don’t have breast cancer in your family you still need to get a mammogram at least every other year.
