THANK YOU FRIENDS!
We asked for support and you gave it! We are so excited and happy to share that your generosity helped us exceed our #GivingTuesday fundraising goal. As of today, we have raised over $16,000 for the students and programs at Sprout and more than half of that was from fundraisers that YOU created on our behalf!

We are feeling extremely grateful and just wanted to share this awesome news with all of you!! We'd like to thank each and every person who donated, likes/shared our videos or held their own campaigns on their personal pages to support Sprout!

Together we are a powerful force of good in this world! We rise by lifting others!

THIS CALLS FOR A PARTY!!! Our goal for #GivingTuesday was $6,250 and because of YOUR generosity it keeps growing! As of this video, our total was $6,335 but the total continues to rise and we are SO thankful for your support!

It seems appropriate that our horse for the hour and the last horse of the day is VIP! VIP came to us all the way from California! He was a champion show hunter and continues to make his riders feel victorious at Sprout!

Today YOU are the VIP's of Sprout! Thank you for making this #GivingTuesday a day that will have an impact far into the future! Your support changes lives! Thank you for joining us in the barn to learn more about what we do, how we operate, who we serve and WHY we believe so passionately in this mission! YOU make it all possible!

And, in case you'd like to see, here's VIP's holiday wishlist!

Then come with us to see Toasty - the barn toddler! He has a very interesting Horsenality type for therapeutic riding but his type is SO valuable to our program! We love our little marshmallow!

We're spicing things up with Salsa this hour! He is the newest horse at Sprout and a retired Grand Prix jumper. He is well educated and tolerant so we think he has all the right ingredients to be a great therapy horse at Sprout!

Also on this post a bit on HAY! Did you know that Sprout goes through about $50 a day in hay for our horses? Come with us as we hay the fields for the night!

While Pac enjoys his treat, come on a tour of our tack room and see how we adapt our tack for the needs of our students! We are always needing additions to our equipment inventory because we try to meet the needs of EACH rider!

It's just about 8am and we're feeding the horses breakfast!
Cupcake is one of our newest additions to the herd and was brought to Sprout to teach our independent riders. He helps them hone their skills and fine tune their riding.

Cupcake is known around the barn as "the party animal" - his spirit and spunk make him a fun friend and teacher!

It's 7am and we're featuring Cowboy this hour!
Cowboy is small but he is MIGHTY! He has been an integral piece in the lives of so many children - he's taught them to sit up, walk, talk, run and connect!!

His story encourages us that you don't have to be BIG to be amazing! Just like Cowboy, it isn't the size of the gift that is important, its the love that's poured into it! Support of any size and in any amount makes a real and lasting difference!

Thank you to all who participated in the 7th Annual Sprout 5k/1k on Sunday, November 16th! With close to 500 participants, this year's event was our biggest yet and raised over $30,000 for the students of Sprout! We are especially appreciative of the sponsors who made our event possible, including Leidos, Wegmans, Susan Fitzgerald and Associates, Inc, Lindsay Volkswagen, Windows on Washington, Virginia Tire and Auto, Xemplar, Valley Energy and Westway Workplace LLC!

We kicked off our event with a fun Zumba warm-up by Sprout parent Nikki Thiem of Full Out Fitness! Then, our guests lit up the 5k race course! The first to the finish were Kostya Grabovsky and Joseph Tafe for the males and Zanny Arey and Sarah Carter for the females! Other winners included!
Male Age Group Winners: 8 and Under: 1. Kieran Mello, 2. Layne Dooley, 9 to 14: 1. Michael Tafe, 2. Jackson Luther, 15 to 19: 1. Ty Nicholsen, 2. Colson Merrill, 20 to 29: 1. Sasha Glasgow, 2. Mark Peterson,
30 to 39: 1. Matthew Hoyt, 2. Samuel de Kock, 40 to 49: 1. Jonathan King, 2. John Dubois, 50 to 59: 1. John McDaniel, 2. Arthur Maselli, 60 to 69: 1. Perry Washington, 2. Brian Bergdahl, 70 and Over: 1. Richard Jackson, 2. Quintin McNutt
Female Age Group Winners: 8 and Under: 1. Avery Waldron, 2. Lucy Longtin, 9 to 14:1 Raigan Gardner, 2 Stella King, 15 to 19: 1. Sydney Rogstad, 2. Madison Garcia, 20 to 29: 1. Jackie Bond, 2. Emily Stengel

1k runners were encouraged by Sprout's adorable mascot, Lucky, who stayed for photo ops and shared #sproutsmiles with participants of all ages!

After the race, our kind and welcoming hosts, Clyde's at Willow Creek treated everyone to a delicious lunch on their patio. During our awards ceremony, the Sprout Cup was presented to the largest team with 63 registration - The Sole Sisters of Sugarland Elementary! Our fastest team award went to YRCI! Our largest student team was Bella Rides (which earned her a free winter session of riding) and due to the kindness of an anonymous donor, Rachel's Running Unicorns also earned her winter session for coming in a close second!

This event was made possible by the unparalleled efforts of the 5k committee chairs Mike Pratt and Diana Newmiller. We truly appreciate their devotion to our students! The event was times by Potomac River Running (see the results here: 2019 Sprout 5k Results), supported by Air Force cadre who worked as crossing guards and many kind and giving Sprout volunteers. If you are interested in joining the 5k committee next year, please email [email protected]! And, save the date for our 2020 race!

Thank you!
Brooke
