Children don’t test our patience -
They reveal where it is still growing.
Every difficult moment,
Every big feeling,
Every derailment of our plans,
Shows us the edges of our own regulation,
The parts of us that are still learning how to slow down,
Stay steady,
and RESPOND instead of REACT.
They aren’t trying to push us over the edge.
They’re inviting us to see the limits we’ve inherited,
The ones we’ve never had the chance to outgrow,
The ones we now have the opportunity to soften.
Patience isn’t something we master and then maintain —
It’s something we build in real time,
In the mess,
In the repetition,
In the moments that draw out the most unrefined parts of us.
And the beauty is this -
Our children don’t need perfect patience.
They need the version that keeps trying.
The version that circles back,
repairs,
reconnects.
The version that shows them what learning looks like
in a fully grown human.
Because while we’re supposed to be teaching them how to navigate the world,
We’re also quietly learning from them how to expand our capacity for
Love,
Presence,
and Grace.
Thanks for Tuning - In
