š£ Whatās New for Medicare Plans for 2027?
Medicare open enrollment runs October 15āDecember 7, and reviewing your prescription coverage is especially important this year!
š¬ Check your planāeven if youāre happy with it.
Some plans may be discontinued or merged with another plan. Review your Annual Notice of Change for updates to premiums, deductibles, copays, covered medications and pharmacy networks.
š° Premiums could increase.
Temporary federal subsidies that helped limit premium increases for standalone Part D plans are ending after 2026. This could mean higher monthly costs and more changes in plan options. Check what YOUR plan will charge for 2027.
š The maximum annual deductible rises to $700, up from $615 in 2026. Some plans have a lower deductible or none.
š”ļø The annual out-of-pocket limit rises to $2,400, up from $2,100. This limit applies to covered Part D medications. Monthly premiums are separate.
šµ More Medicare-negotiated drug prices begin.
Medicare negotiates directly with manufacturers to lower prices for selected medications. In 2027, negotiated prices take effect for 15 additional drugs, including Janumet, Linzess, Ozempic and Trelegy Ellipta. Your copay savings will depend on your coverage.
āļø The Medicare GLP-1 Bridge continues through December 2027.
Eligible patients may receive select weight-management medications for $50 per month. Eligibility requirements apply. These payments donāt count toward your Part D deductible or annual out-of-pocket limit.
šļø You can still spread prescription costs across the year.
The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan helps you budget by spreading covered out-of-pocket prescription expenses across the calendar year. It doesnāt reduce your total cost. Current participants generally renew automatically if they stay in the same health or drug plan, unless they opt out.
ā
Important benefits remain: Covered insulin costs no more than $35 per month per insulin product, and may cost less. Recommended vaccines covered by Part Dāincluding shingles, RSV and Tdapācontinue to have no out-of-pocket cost.
š Look beyond the monthly premium.
Compare total yearly costs, medication coverage, pharmacy networks, Star Ratings, prior authorizations and quantity limits.
Visit Medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE to compare plans. Start early so you have time to review your options.
šØ Protect yourself from scams. Donāt give your Medicare number or financial information to unexpected callers promising gifts or claiming you must provide information to keep your coverage.
