October is Pregnancy loss and infant loss awareness month which is something that I hold near to my heart. To all you mama's with baby's in Heaven, I see you. Navigating the loss of a child is unimaginable, and I am so proud of you for getting up every single day, even on the hard days.

If you lost a pregnancy or a child, I would love for you to let me know their name as I will be doing special intentions this month for the babies in Heaven.

In June of this year I lost my 7-week old son Beau to a severe congenital heart defect, and we have 2 other babies that were lost to early miscarriages as well.

I am so proud to say Beau's name, and I will talk about him and remember him every day; and I want to talk about your babies with you and celebrate the impact they had here on earth.

She considers the bigger picture, including lifestyle, nutrition, stress, hormonal and metabolic factors, and other potential contributors to mental health.

Chandler also offers medically supervised metabolic management, incorporating individualized nutrition and lifestyle strategies along with prescription medications when appropriate, including micro-dosed GLP-1 therapy if indicated.

✨ Marina Osborn, Family Nurse Practitioner;
Marina focuses on women’s health, hormone health, gastrointestinal health, and nutritional wellness. She works with women experiencing menstrual cycle irregularities including PCOS, PMDD, irregular menstrual cycles, perimenopause, endometriosis, and heavy or painful periods.

She also helps patients struggling with digestive concerns commonly labeled as "IBS", including diarrhea, constipation, bloating, gas, indigestion, and changes in bowel habits.

Marina also takes a comprehensive approach to concerns associated with fatigue, stress response, and adrenal function.

✨ Emily Lane, Family Nurse Practitioner;
Emily has a special interest in hypermobility spectrum disorders including Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. She is passionate about supporting patients who may have spent years trying to understand a complex collection of symptoms. She offers comprehensive evaluations that can include genetic testing.

Her areas of focus also include POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) and histamine intolerance/mast-cell-related symptoms. Her approach considers how these interconnected systems may influence one another and focuses on creating an individualized plan based on each patient’s unique presentation.

Histamine intolerance refers to a situation where the body has difficulty breaking down histamine which is a naturally occurring compound involved in immune function, digestion, and the body’s response to allergens and other triggers.

When histamine levels build up faster than the body can process them, some people may experience symptoms such as flushing, itching, headaches, nasal congestion, digestive upset, abdominal pain, diarrhea, rapid heart rate, or a feeling of being “wired” or unwell after certain foods or other triggers.

Histamine is found naturally in the body and can also increase in certain foods, particularly fermented, aged, or highly processed foods. Symptoms can vary considerably from person to person and may be influenced by factors such as stress, illness, medications, gut health, and hormonal changes. There is often an overlap with symptoms and a correlation with other conditions including POTS and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) is a condition that affects the autonomic nervous system (ANS). The ANS is responsible for regulating heart rate, blood pressure, blood flow, and body temperature.

With POTS, the body has difficulty adjusting properly when moving from lying down or sitting to standing. This can cause an exaggerated increase in heart rate and symptoms such as dizziness, lightheadedness, fatigue, brain fog, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, nausea, exercise intolerance, and sometimes fainting. Symptoms can vary significantly from person to person and may be influenced by factors such as dehydration, heat, illness, prolonged standing, or hormonal changes.

Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome is a connective tissue disorder that affects how the body’s connective tissue is formed and functions.

Connective tissue provides support and structure throughout the body, including the skin, joints, blood vessels, and many internal organs. For people with EDS, connective tissue may be more fragile or less supportive than usual, which can lead to symptoms such as joint hypermobility, instability, frequent sprains or injuries, chronic pain, easy bruising, stretchy or fragile skin, and sometimes problems involving the digestive, cardiovascular, or autonomic nervous systems. EDS can look very different from one person to another, and symptoms may range from mild to significantly impacting daily life.

The graphic below is from the Chalela Physical Therapy Institute and demonstrates how multiple organ systems are involved with EDS.
