Kathy's personal history with hearing loss inspires her empathetic approach to her patient's hearing needs, and her unmatched commitment to patient satisfaction. Kathy has lived with a moderate genetic sensorineural hearing loss since she was diagnosed as a young girl at the age of five. She recalls being fitted for her first hearing aid at the time, and the discovery of sounds she had never heard
before. "My shoes on the floor as I was walking, the birds singing, and the voices of my family talking to me." At the age of eleven, Kathy was fitted for a second hearing aid in her opposite ear, which also made a profound difference in her hearing capacity. "I could understand conversation so much better, and could hear which direction sounds were coming from." Living with hearing loss herself, and having raised two sons who share the genetic hearing loss, Kathy is aware of the hardships that hearing impairment can cause. "I couldn't go swimming and hear the conversations that my friends were having. Perspiration from playing outside interfered with the hearing aids, causing them to shut off. But, I wouldn't have given my hearing aids back for anything, because I could hear!"
Kathy's understanding and passion for hearing has only grown over time. She's now living her dream of helping others to hear every day at her own private practice.
