"I'll get strategic once things calm down."
I've said it. Probably this week.

Q4 has started in a very busy state, and I feel it too. Year-end deliverables. Planning. Reviews. Travel. And the holidays already lining up behind all of it.

So the strategy block on your calendar gets moved. Then moved again. Because something louder showed up.

Here's the thing to watch: Things rarely calm down on their own. If you wait for a quiet week to decide what matters, whatever is loudest will keep deciding for you.

Strategy isn't what you do after the busy season. It's how you decide what the busy season gets.

So try this before your week runs away with you:
Picture the week before Thanksgiving. What do you wish you'd started prioritizing today?
Write it down. Then protect it like it's a meeting with your CEO.

If you want one focused evening to get clear on what you want next and where your effort should go for the next 90 days, join me at Promotion Pending on Wednesday, November 18.

That's the week before Thanksgiving, so you'll be living the answer to that question. Dinner's included. Save your seat: https://www.uplifthealthylifestyle.com/promotion-pending

I’m honored to be named one of the Wichita Business Journal 2026 Women Who Lead.

Answering their questions made me look back at a path I never could have mapped out.
-- Advertising, where I discovered I loved bringing structure to complex work.
-- Project management, then building and leading a PMO.
-- Coaching. And most recently, Strategic Women, a community of ambitious women intentionally creating what comes next for them.

What stood out most wasn’t the titles. It was the people.

Christina House and DeAnn Sullivan, whose enthusiasm early in my project management career helped me see what this profession could be.

Jenna Bottolfsen and Kristi Windish, who through our work together on Strategic Women have helped me see the broader impact this work can have for women.

And so many people in between (the article only allows so many words).

Every one of them reinforced the same things: keep learning, trust your voice, and help others grow.

So much of my leadership was built outside the office, too, through American Marketing Association - Wichita Chapter, PMI Wichita and volunteering with Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland. Those rooms shaped me as much as any job title.

When they asked for my best advice, I said, “Learn to lead yourself first.” I wish someone had said that to me back when I was learning what leadership is.

Thank you to the Wichita Business Journal for this recognition, to everyone who has invested in me along the way, and congratulations to this year’s honorees. I’m proud to be among you.

Here’s how I challenged myself recently...
Five minutes. Twenty slides. Fifteen seconds each, whether you’re ready or not.

Last Wednesday I took the stage at DisruptHR Wichita 2026 alongside an incredible group of speakers. That format is a great equalizer. There’s no room for a long setup or one more slide. You have to know exactly what you’re trying to say. And no matter how much you practice, there’s always a little scary in it.

My talk was “Developing a Pressure-Ready Workforce,” and it came down to one line:
“Our skills aren’t missing. They’re missing in action.”

We train people to give feedback, delegate, push back and decide. They learn it. Then the real moment arrives, the pressure rises, and what we know isn’t what we do.

Picture a manager across the table from a direct report who keeps missing deadlines, she softens the message. She over-explains. By the end of the meeting, she’s taken the project back herself. She didn’t forget the training.

Some of you have been that manager. I have too. Pressure got there first.

The goal isn’t calm. It’s choice. In the moment that matters, can you choose the response you trained for, instead of the one pressure picks for you?

The other talks pushed my thinking too. Many of them came back to the same place: what employees actually need from us, and how we help them get there.

I closed with the challenge I’ll leave here too:
Let’s move our workforce from reactive to ready.

Thank you to DisruptHR Wichita (esp Melissa Musgrave and Amber Neises, SHRM- CP) and IMA Financial Group, Inc. for hosting, and to everyone who came out to watch.

Congrats and great job to to my fellow speakers: Mona Martin, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, Keith Shaw, DISC, ACC, Organizational Awareness Expert, Dr. Janice Perkins, PhD, PCC - Executive Coach, Marilyn Rosa-Green, LPC, NCC, Kyle Harvey, Krissy Buck, Adam Gragg, Tina Khan, Cindy Volanti, SHRM-SCP

"If I just work harder, someone will notice."
They will. They'll notice you're reliable. That you'll get it done. That they never have to worry about your piece.

What they may not notice is your leadership.

Promotion Pending is a 90-minute workshop, plus dinner, for the woman who wants what's next and wants to be deliberate about how she gets there. We'll get clear on what you actually want, where your capacity is going, and the one focus that will make the biggest difference over the next 90 days.

Dinner's included, so you can come straight from work.

You’ll leave with a real plan for your next level, built alongside women who get it.

Every fall, some version of the same idea goes viral. This year its the Winter Arc. A few years ago it was something else. Next year it'll be called something new.

The label changes. The instinct behind it doesn't: use the final stretch of the year on purpose instead of drifting into December wondering where it went.

That instinct is the entire reason our Strategic Women community meets every quarter.
Not because its trending.

Because looking back honestly and getting intentional about what's next actually works, whatever you call it. We're doing our next check-in this Thursday, 10/1.

Girls' Night, Goals Night. Dinner and w**e included. Come get intentional about your next 90 days with us. https://www.uplifthealthylifestyle.com/event-info/girls-night-goals-night-3rd-qtr

You've probably seen it floating around: the Winter Arc.
The idea that October 1 kicks off a fresh 90 days, a chance to reset before the year ends instead of waiting for January 1.

Here's the thing >>> Seasonal resets and intentional goal setting aren't new.

It's exactly why our Strategic Women community gets together every. single. quarter.
We check in on what actually happened in the last 90 days, and we get intentional about the next 90.

Call it a Winter Arc. Call it a quarterly check-in.
Either way, the work is the same: look back honestly, then decide what's next on purpose.

We're doing ours this Thursday, 10/1. Girls' Night, Goals Night. Dinner and w**e included. If you're already thinking about your next 90 days, come think about them with us. https://www.uplifthealthylifestyle.com/event-info/girls-night-goals-night-3rd-qtr
