OPEN Overdose Prevention Engagement Network
Improving Lives from Engagement to Recovery. Prevention. Treatment. Recovery.

The Opioid Prescribing Engagement Network (OPEN) launched in October 2016 with support from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) Value Partnerships, and the Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation (IHPI) at the University of Michigan. OPEN was founded in an effort to develop a preventive approach to the opioid epidemic in the state of Michigan by tailoring postoperative and acute care opioid prescribing.

We're redesigning our prevention programming to better serve our communities. As part of this shift, a few of our current programs have stopped taking new applications as of September 30th.

The following programs have officially ceased taking applications:

Naloxone Vending Machines
SAFE Kits
Medication Disposal Pouches
Permanent Disposal Boxes
Take Back Event scholarship opportunities

Over the past five years, our 10+ community-focused prevention programs have reached most counties across Michigan. Together, we've placed more than 42,000 safe medication storage and disposal products and over 35,000 naloxone rescue kits directly into the hands of people who needed them.

Join us on Wednesday, October 28th for a live performance of Road Trip.

Today’s caregivers are raising young people in a world with social media, high-potency legal cannabis, va**ng devices, counterfeit or poisoned pills and increasing concerns about youth mental health. Many parents grew up in simpler times, when warnings and campaigns focused on fears rather than honest conversation.

The world has changed, but one thing has not: Young people need trusted adults who listen, stay informed, set clear boundaries, and stand beside them when things get hard.
