Is the lab order your doc is putting in…enough? 🩸

These biomarkers predicted heart attacks and strokes in women 30 YEARS out. 🫀

A 2024 New England Journal of Medicine study followed nearly 28,000 healthy women for three decades. Three blood markers, measured once, predicted who’d go on to have a cardiovascular event:

→ hs-CRP (inflammation): 70% higher risk
→ LDL-C: 36% higher risk
→ Lp(a): 33% higher risk

Each one mattered on its own. All three together told the clearest story.

We’d add two more easy add-ons that this study MISSED in our clinical opinion: ApoB (how many particles are carrying cholesterol, not just how much cholesterol) and LDL pattern (big and fluffy vs. small and dense).

💬 Comment FH and we’ll send you our link to get 160+ biomarkers tested per year for a dollar a day or less.

☀️ Morning sunlight: KEEP. A no-brainer. Free, well supported, and it sets your circadian rhythm early in the day, which sets up better sleep that night too.
🧖 Sauna: KEEP. Shown to support cardiovascular health, relaxation, and your detox pathways. Hydrate before, during, and after, and wipe down with a cloth or shower when you're done.
🧊 Cold plunges: DEPENDS. Can be a nice stress-resilience tool, but it's extra stress on a system that may already be maxed out.
📊 CGM without diabetes: DEPENDS. A short 1 to 2 month trial can help connect symptoms like fatigue, headaches, or shakiness to glucose patterns. But normal spikes can get misread as problems and fuel food anxiety, so it's not something you need forever.
😴 Sleep trackers: DEPENDS. Helpful for spotting patterns. For some people, obsessing over the data makes sleep worse, not better.
🩹 Mouth taping & nasal strips: DEPENDS. Bad snoring or sleep apnea? Nasal strips are worth a try, I use them myself. Mouth taping is a skip for me. Sounds like my nightmare.

Too full to eat, but also backed up? Those might be the same problem. 💩

Get things moving and your hunger and fullness cues can start to come back.

Where to start:
✅ Regular meals, including breakfast
✅ Space meals 3-4 hours apart, this will help trigger the peristalsis wave that moves things through your gut
✅ Sip fluids throughout the day
✅ Increase fiber only once you’ve increased your fluids and regular meal consumption

Struggling with constipation? Our licensed nutritionists can help. Comment DISCOVER to learn about the GHT Method.

Constipated and tired of hearing "just eat more fiber"? Which can definitely worsen constipation when not met with more fluids!

Here are 3 things that can genuinely help move things along and they won't cost you a dime (well, almost 👀):

1️⃣ Blow bubbles or blow through a straw - sounds silly, but it stimulates your vagus nerve and gets your gut moving

2️⃣ The "I-L-U" abdominal massage - trace these letters on your belly to follow the path of your colon

3️⃣ Morning gut flush tonic - warm water, lemon, and a pinch of sea salt on an empty stomach

Save this for your next "why won't I go" morning 🚽

My P*P ordered 6 labs based on my cardiologist's recommendations and family history. She genuinely wanted this information to guide nexts steps in my care.

The bill? Labcorp charged $410. I owed $147 after insurance.

If I had ordered the exact same labs from the exact same company through GHT? $85 or less.

Same tests. Same lab. Nearly double the price going the "traditional" route.

Here's what really gets me: Insurance often won't cover these markers, claiming there's no "clinical relevance" because you don't already have a diagnosis. As if prevention isn't the whole point.
Meanwhile, a 30-year NEJM study of nearly 28,000 healthy women found elevated hs-CRP and Lp(a) significantly predicted cardiovascular events—with the highest-risk group showing 70% increased risk. The science supports testing healthy people. Insurance just hasn't caught up.

So we have research. We have physician concern. And I still paid double the actual cost.

This is why the argument that “functional medicine is too expensive" often frustrates me. When you factor in copays, surprise bills, and denied labs—cash-pay care often costs less and you actually get answers.

Comment LABS to access 100+ biomarkers twice a year for less than the $410 they claimed 6 cost me.
