🤍 October is Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month. 🤍
As a mom, and as someone who has the privilege of walking alongside women through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, this month holds a very special place in my heart.
Pregnancy is often filled with so many hopes and dreams. We imagine the tiny person we will meet, the life we will build, the first moments we will share. And when that journey ends far sooner than it was supposed to, the grief can be impossible to put into words.
There are mothers who leave the hospital without their baby.
There are fathers grieving quietly beside them.
There are families who had already chosen a name, imagined a nursery, felt tiny kicks, or dreamed about who their baby would become.
And there are babies whose entire lives may have been measured in moments—but whose impact will last a lifetime. 🤍
In my work, I have the honor of caring for women during some of the most vulnerable and transformative seasons of their lives. It has reminded me again and again that every pregnancy, every baby, every mother, and every story is unique.
So this month, I want to gently remind anyone who has experienced loss:
Your baby mattered.
Your love mattered.
Your grief matters.
And you don’t have to forget in order to heal.
If you know a mother or family who has experienced pregnancy or infant loss, don’t be afraid to say their baby’s name. Don’t worry that you’re “reminding” them. Chances are, they haven’t forgotten for a single day.
Sometimes simply saying,
“I remember your baby. I’m thinking of you. I’m here.”
can mean more than we realize.
To every mama carrying both love and loss in her heart—I’m holding space for you this month and always. 🤍🕊️
For the babies who were loved deeply, even if their time with us was far too short.
