❤️What started as a trip for groceries 🛒 became a life-changing journey. ❤️
When Yasir first attended a Wellness on Wheels ("WOW") event, he wasn't expecting a health screening to reveal blood pressure readings as high as 160/100.🩺 Like many people, he felt fine and had no idea he was living with a serious health risk.
With the support of WOW, a grant, Yasir began making small but meaningful changes, incorporating more fresh fruits and vegetables into his meals, drinking more water, and exercising regularly. He also connected with a physician who helped identify an underlying genetic condition contributing to his hypertension. Today, Yasir's blood pressure is around 125/80, and he is managing his condition with fewer medications than before.
But his story is about more than improved numbers.
Living far from his family while working hard to support them, Yasir often felt alone. Through WOW, he found encouragement, compassion, and a community that cared about his health, his stress, and his future. "For the first time in a long time, I felt like I wasn't doing life alone. I felt seen. I felt supported. I felt like I had family here."
Stories like Yasir's remind us that improving health starts with meeting people where they are and providing support that nourishes both body and spirit.
Thank you to HIM Food Bank, Central Storehouse, and everyone involved in WOW for helping create healthier, more hopeful futures for our neighbors.
✨Everyone's health matters. Small changes can make a big difference. If it's been a while since you've checked your blood pressure or connected with preventive health resources, let Yasir's story be your reminder to take that first step.✨

🌟 Building Financial Wellness, Strengthening Communities 🌟
💡 A conversation about budgeting today can help create a more stable tomorrow.
Many families face financial challenges that can affect health, well-being, and future opportunities. Access to practical financial education can help individuals feel more confident and prepared for life's decisions.
🤝 Through a grant, Project Access Tarrant County and Pathfinders joined forces to bring financial literacy education to participants in the Salud en Tus Manos classes as part of the MATRIX program. Together, they created opportunities for residents to learn, connect with resources, and build skills that support long-term financial stability.
📚 As a result, participants gained knowledge and tools to help strengthen their financial well-being and future goals. Four financial literacy sessions provided practical strategies that participants can continue to use beyond the program.
❤️ Investing in financial well-being is one way communities can help improve overall health and quality of life.

When The Love Basket, Dublin's only food pantry, faced possible closure, the community stepped up.
Because of relationships built through the Bridges to Resilience collaborative, supported by a grant, organizations and volunteers came together to keep this vital resource open for local families.
This is what happens when organizations move from "me" to "we." Through trust, collaboration and shared responsibility, Dublin preserved an essential service and strengthened its resilience for the future.

💙 As we approach World Homelessness Day on October 10, we're reminded that lasting change is about more than meeting immediate needs. It's about building connection, community, and hope.
The Life Skills program at Giving Grace helps participants build practical skills through classes like Budgeting, Parenting, Trauma Awareness, and Setting Boundaries. Just as importantly, it helps people build relationships.
Recently, when Erikka and Marquall got married, they invited not only Life Skills Director Heath Boehm, but also another couple they met through the program.
❤️ That's the power of community. What begins in the classroom can grow into friendships, support systems, and connections that last a lifetime.
Grateful for our grantee: Giving Grace.

🌱 Supporting Healthier Communities Through Access to Fresh Food and Wellness Resources 🍎🥕🌽
Texas Health is proud to support programs that help individuals and families access healthy food, health education, and community resources.
On September 12, our grantee, Healthier Texas, hosted the "Fall into Harvest Farmers Market" at Higher Praise Family Church in Fort Worth through its Health + Healing Hubs initiative, which is supported by a grant. The event brought community members together to access fresh produce, connect with local resources, and take meaningful steps toward better health.
Participants received fresh fruits and vegetables, attended a health education class, enjoyed line dancing and wellness activities, and accessed free blood pressure screenings. 💚
💬 Voices from the Community: "The event was informative and helpful. The variety of produce offered allowed me to create colorful, healthy meals for my family."
"Me gustaron mucho sus atenciones y su amabilidad, pero sobre todo la ayuda. Gracias por todo lo que me brindaron." ("I really appreciated the kindness and attention I received, but most of all the help. Thank you for everything you provided.")
We are grateful to Healthier Texas and Higher Praise Family Church for their collaboration in creating opportunities for families to access fresh food, health education, and resources that support healthier lives.
🌿 Here's to harvesting better health, one healthy choice at a time.

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are difficult or traumatic events that occur during childhood and can affect health and well-being throughout life. Through the grant, the Community Connection Cohorts in Erath County are raising awareness of ACEs, promoting trauma-informed practices, and building resilience in children, families, and communities.
Together, we are creating supportive environments where every child has the opportunity to thrive thanks to Dublin Public Library, CASA for the Cross Timbers Area, Morning Star Ranch, Erath County - WIN , Workforce Solutions Central Texas, Dublin Family Worship, Tarleton State University, and others.
