NCAA Division I Student-Athletes your NIL experiences matter.
Name, Image, and Likeness has created new opportunities for college athletes, but behind every opportunity is a decision. Student-athletes may need to consider their personal values, identity, financial opportunities, future goals, external expectations, and other factors when deciding what is right for them.
As part of my doctoral research, I am seeking to better understand these experiences directly from the student-athletes living them. Your voice matters because the future understanding of NIL should include the perspectives of the athletes actually making these decisions.
By sharing your experience, you can help deepen the understanding of how NIL-related decisions affect student-athletes and provide insights that may inform future research and support NIL in collegiate athletics.
Participation is voluntary and confidential.

Your support in helping me reach student-athletes who may be willing to share their experiences means so much to me!

Not every conflict needs therapy, but that doesn’t mean it should be ignored.

In workplaces, teams, and organizations, conflict is inevitable. And while asking coworkers, employees, coaches, or staff members to attend therapy together may not be realistic or appropriate, bringing in a neutral third party can help everyone move forward.

As a Certified Mediator with over 10 years of experience in conflict management and resolution, I offer mediation and conflict resolution services designed to help people communicate more effectively, work through disagreements, and find practical solutions.

✨True performance is built on more than talent alone.
At Solution Therapy the focus is on helping individuals and athletes strengthen both mental health and performance through confidence, resilience, self-awareness, and emotional growth.

People often look at athletes and think: They have everything talent, money, success, recognition, opportunities.
But what we don’t always see is what’s happening internally.
External motivators like fame, money, achievement, scholarships, contracts, followers, or validation can absolutely drive performance. They can motivate us to work harder, push farther, and chase goals. But external success does not automatically create internal peace.
This is something we see often in conversations around substance use and addiction. Sometimes people use substances not because they are weak or unmotivated, but because there are unresolved emotions, pain, pressure, identity struggles, loneliness, anxiety, or emptiness underneath the surface.
Athletes are especially vulnerable to this because so much of their identity can become tied to performance, expectations, and external validation. And when happiness becomes something we constantly chase externally, it can leave people feeling exhausted, disconnected, and unfulfilled even when they “have it all.”
True healing comes from understanding why we want what we want.
From building internal motivation, self-worth, self-awareness, and emotional health.
From healing the parts of ourselves that success alone cannot reach.
Because happiness is not something we achieve and permanently arrive at.
It’s something we create internally through growth, connection, purpose, and healing.
The goal is not to stop striving.
The goal is to make sure we are not sacrificing ourselves while striving. 🤍

Positive self-talk isn’t just a “nice idea” it’s a performance skill.

Lately, I’ve been working with a few young athletes, and one thing that continues to stand out is how little positive reinforcement they’re receiving from coaches, parents, and even themselves. Instead, the focus is often on mistakes, what went wrong, or what needs to be fixed.
And while correction is part of growth, if that’s the only message athletes are hearing, it starts to shape how they think, perform, and ultimately how they see themselves.

What we consistently think becomes what we focus on.
What we focus on influences how we perform.
If an athlete is constantly thinking:
“I messed that up.”
“I’m not good enough.”
“I always make mistakes.”

That becomes their mindset and it’s nearly impossible to perform confidently from that place.

Positive self-talk may sound simple, even cliché, but it works because it retrains the brain. It helps athletes build confidence, stay present, and perform with intention rather than fear.

This is especially important at a young age.
Athletes should be taught to notice what they’re doing well, to speak to themselves with encouragement, and to reset quickly after mistakes. And that doesn’t just fall on the athlete it’s a shared responsibility.
Coaches. Parents. Teammates.
The environment matters.
Because the goal isn’t perfection it’s confidence, resilience, and a mindset that supports performance.

This is something I work on with athletes, coaches, and teams all the time sometimes even right there at practices or games 👀
Because mindset isn’t just talked about… it’s practiced.

You don’t have to hit rock bottom to ask for help.

Even athletes like Michael Phelps have spoken openly about how prioritizing their mental health changed everything.
And that’s the part that often gets overlooked…
Mental health support isn’t just for when things feel overwhelming —
it’s also what helps you perform, focus, and show up at your best.

As a licensed clinical mental health counselor and sport & performance professional, I support both sides of that.

And yes — sessions may be covered by insurance
Because getting the support you need shouldn’t feel out of reach.
Taking care of your mind is part of the work — not separate from it.

You don’t have to be an athlete to feel performance pressure.

Some people think performance anxiety only shows up in sports… but that’s not true.
It shows up:
• Before a big presentation
• When you’re trying to be a “perfect” parent
• When you feel like everything is riding on one decision
• When you’re overwhelmed but still expected to perform
This is the same pressure athletes feel just in a different arena.

As a Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Sport & Performance Psychology professional, I work with both athletes and high-performing individuals who are navigating stress, expectations, and identity.

Because at the end of the day—
Pressure is pressure

And your mind matters just as much as your performance
You don’t have to push through it alone, let’s connect!
