A healthy outside starts from the inside💕

...and other facts:

💯 There is no magic pill or shake that will make you fit if you’re not going to do the work.

💯 There is no magic potion that will cure your disease or keep you looking young if you’re not willing to live a healthier lifestyle.

💯 There is no company that will give you free money, products, or trips if you say no to the opportunity.

But if you decide that you would like to get healthier, look and feel better, and earn extra income while doing it, I’m going to help you succeed and show you how!

Let’s talk about Self-care vs. Self-comfort!

Self-care is a strategy to help you deal with stress proactively.

Self-care is caring for your whole self (physical, mental, and emotional) and ultimately moves you closer to your goals.

Self-comfort is more about easing discomfort than about moving towards your goals - and will likely keep you right where you are.

If you keep doing what you have been doing, you will keep getting the same results.

Self-indulgent choices, when done often enough, will move you backwards.

Unfortunately, this life is not meant to be easy. There will always be discomfort. Embrace it.

The more you choose the comfortable choices, the less likely you will be to make progress toward your goals.

When you get out of your comfort zone and accept the challenges, is when progress and change happen.

While everyone chooses self-comfort once in awhile, it’s important to know that if you choose self-comfort often enough, it will keep you right where you are.

For example, if your self-care choice is going to bed at 9:30 pm because you are tired and need the rest, your self-comfort choice might be to stay up and watch tv until 11 pm because you “want to.”

Examples of self-care:

* Choosing nutritious food more often than not.
* Drinking enough water.
* Turning down a social invitation because you need alone time.
* Going for a walk.
* Opting for an early bedtime in lieu of another night out.
* Pursuing personal development.
* Going for annual doctor exams.
* Seeking help from a mental health professional.

Just start. You don’t have to know what you’re doing, you just have to start.

I wanted to share my fitness journey with you because I have some new friends here. This was me when I was in my 30’s a single mom working in corporate America doing what I needed to make things work for my daughter and me. It wasn’t terrible, but I was lacking passion, drive, and joy in my life. I was also very unhealthy but wasn’t interested in making any changes until I was diagnosed with diabetes at age 38. Well, that was the wake up call that I needed to light a fire in me and I knew I had to make changes so that I could get healthy for my family and provide for us.

I decided to start eating healthier and working out and gradually I lost the weight I needed to so that I reversed my diabetes and I started on my fitness journey!

Well, fast forward to today, I am helping others with their fitness and nutrition, I’m a bikini and figure competitor, and have my own coaching business! I chose to become an entrepreneur and I’m absolutely loving being my own boss!!

I enjoy helping people reach their health and financial goals and it’s so amazing to be able to mentor and coach!

For those who don’t know where or how to start, my advice is to find someone who you like and trust and ask if they will help keep you accountable with your goals. Working together as a team is so rewarding and will help you when the motivation is gone. Some people get absolutely paralyzed with thinking they have to know everything in order to be successful.

The simple truth is that you don’t need to know everything...heck, you don’t really need to know anything to start. All you need to do is decide that you want to start. Find your why and get that fire lit in your belly.

Because YOU ARE SO WORTH IT!!! 💜

Mountain climbers are a great strength building exercise plus they really work your core!

If regular mountain climbers are not an option for you, try sliding your feet on a hard, smooth floor for lower impact. No hardwood in your house, just use paper plates under each foot and you can do it on carpet 😀

Where are my spinach lovers?

Spinach is a wonderful source of vitamins A, C, and E also calcium, fiber, protein and iron!

But when cooked, your body doesn’t absorb all of the nutrients and when eaten raw, the calcium and iron gets blocked and doesn’t absorb as well.

So what’s the best way to eat your spinach? I recommend eating both raw and cooked spinach or whatever you prefer.

I also take a multivitamin pack complete with all the vitamins, minerals, probiotics, antioxidants, omegas, and digestive enzymes that I know my body needs to stay healthy. Not sure which vitamins are best just ask me!

What’s your morning routine like?

Do you wake up and hit the floor running? Does your body feel tight and stiff as soon as you get out of bed? Do you wake up feeling anxious, depressed, or stressed?

I like to take a few minutes when I wake up to do a few gentle stretches because my body feels tight and stiff sometimes. A few deep breaths while you do your stretches will help to lessen your anxiety and put you in a better mood. And don’t forget to smile because smiling releases dopamine, endorphins and serotonin into your body.

I can make the choice to feel good about myself and my life. Self-love, self-care, and self-acceptance are habits that I choose every day. Today is the perfect day to be happy, healthy, and radiate love. I choose this lifestyle because it helps me in every single area of my life.

It’s not something that just comes naturally, rather it is learned through practicing habits. Don’t wait for it, just start doing by taking swift and messy action.

What are you doing today to invest in your health?

Ok guys, Lebron James spends over $1 million every year on keeping his body healthy so that he can perform his best on the court. He is probably making or will soon be making over $100 million per year in salary, endorsements, and investments. All because he is able to achieve amazing success as an athlete. Now I’m not saying that money is everything, but that’s a huge ROI!!🙌🏽🙌🏽

I choose to invest in my own health so that I can feel great, look great, have tons of energy, train hard, and recover well without aches and pains. I would rather spend my money on good food, trainers and coaches, chiropractic and massage therapy, effective supplements, and on my mental health.

I know that I’m doing everything in my power to stay healthy and of course I want to keep looking and feeling great in 20, 30, 40 plus years🥰 I also love helping others with their nutrition and health and I feel empowered and excited when I get to to this!

Let’s talk about junk food or “cheat meals”!

Do you struggle with eating too much junk food at times? If you’re like most people, we tend to have very inconsistent eating habits when it comes to eating a balanced diet. Meaning we try to be “perfect” with our diets for a period of time until we fall off the wagon. Weekend binge eating or “cheat days” are common and our thought process often goes like this...”I have been really good all week I only ate salads and chicken and broccoli maybe a few protein bars, plus I worked out hard so I deserve a cheat day.”

The problem with this mentality is that we demonize these so called “bad” or “cheat foods” and when we do eat them we usually eat too much, way too fast, and we feel guilty afterwards. Then we try to eat only “good” foods for a while until we feel the need to binge again.

So the cycle goes on and on. When we have trouble reaching our weight loss and fitness and health goals, we have to look at the role this binge eating is playing on the overall picture.

What if we stopped having our “cheat meals” or “cheat days” and allowed ourselves to enjoy these foods in moderation and more often. What if we stopped using food as a reward for “good”behavior or as a punishment for “bad”behavior.

If you can get away from this method of eating, not only can you still enjoy eating your favorite foods, but you can still be in control of your eating habits which may lead to more consistent healthy habits and better results.

Next time you feel the urge to have an epic cheat meal, try this instead:

• Look for habit patterns and write down what you are feeling or what is the trigger. Being self aware is important and can help you prevent over eating in the future

• Choose a non food related activity next time you are triggered and feel the need to eat junk food. It will feel strange at first but after doing this habit consistently, you can break the mind body connection that causes emotional eating

• Slow down your eating. If you are craving a certain food, you can still eat it but slowing down will help you prevent over eating

Happy Humpday!!

Do you ever feel stuck in life? Do you feel like you aren’t progressing as much as you want to or that everyone except you seems to have it all figured out?

Well first of all, this is your life and you are the pilot of your own aircraft. You know your body and mind better than anyone else so it’s perfectly ok to do things a bit differently.

Think about your goals- health, fitness, financial, and relationship goals then picture how you would behave when you reach those goals. Then think about how you will feel when you reach your goals.

Why not start behaving that way now? You do not need permission from anyone except yourself to act differently. You will start progressing naturally once you change your behavior. As with anything in life, nothing worthwhile comes easy so you will have to put in some work. By practicing good habits consistently, over time you will make significant progress! Every day, remind yourself that you are worthy of everything you want in life.

So whatever it is you want out of life, go get after it! Starting today💜

Squats are a great way to strengthen muscles and joints in your legs, build a better butt, and work your core.

If you are just starting out or you have trouble doing squats, try using a chair to help you stabilize.

Why I’m trying Vegan for a month 💜

When my friend @vanessa.ceciliaa invited me to join her veganuary challenge I said yes! I have been eating mostly plant based for over a year now and have noticed tons of benefits in the way my body feels and looks. I love being able to nourish my body with healthy and delicious foods while protecting our environment and our animals too! I’m also excited about being able to reduce my chances of heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and certain cancers.

These are the top reasons why I choose to eat vegan and some of the delicious meals I got to eat this week😋

Day 1 of my #prophysiquetransformationchallenge and also my bikini competition prep!
I’m so excited to be sharing my journey here with you because honestly it’s a big challenge for me and I need all the support I can get🥰

I have been working hard behind the scenes on my nutrition with coach @doitlikedani and training with @ig3gym so that I will be starting with a great foundation. I also have been working with @joseph_tshamala_dc at Palmercare Chiropractic to keep my back and neck feeling great. I use Vasayo supplements to keep my body feeling amazing, keep my immune system healthy and my stress levels down.

Sharing for anyone who needs stress relief 🥰💜

Let’s talk about how to reduce your stress!

Stress is a natural part of life, and it hits all of us eventually.

If anyone else is like me, I have been noticing more stress lately due to the pandemic and recent political events 😢

The most important thing you can do is to BE AWARE and listen to your body.

• Be mindful about how you are feeling … and what you are eating. This lets you stay in (or regain) control. If you find yourself stressed or tense, take note! Try keeping a journal and writing down how you feel throughout the day and note your food choices during times of stress vs. times when you feel rested, happy, and calm.

• Take regular anti-stress breaks. Experiment with meditation or breathing exercises a couple times a day.

Mindful Breathing

Take note of your breath and purposely track the feeling of inhaling and exhaling. Notice the rise and fall of your chest and abdomen with each breath. After a few breaths, take a slightly deeper breath. Try to really focus on your breathing and if you get distracted, just redirect your attention back to your breath. Do this exercise for just five minutes. You can gradually increase the time each time you practice.

Progressive Muscle Relaxation

Starting with your feet, tense each muscle group, one at a time. Hold the tension until it is almost uncomfortable, and then release. Then move up to your legs and tense each muscle group. Continue moving up your body to the top of your head. Notice how your body feels as you release the tension contained in each muscle group. Take your time doing this.

Yoga Nidra Meditation

This is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping, like the "going-to-sleep" stage, typically induced by a guided meditation. There is evidence that Yoga Nidra helps relieve stress. I have found this technique incredibly effective, especially when practiced before bedtime.
