Can Ozone Therapy Help Reduce Fibromyalgia Pain?
A recent study investigated the effects of major ozone autohemotherapy in patients with fibromyalgia who continued to experience symptoms despite standard medical treatment and lifestyle modifications.
What Did Researchers Find???
The study evaluated 45 patients before treatment and three months afterward.
Key findings included....
-50% reduction in median pain scores — Visual Analog Scale scores decreased from 8 to 4 out of 10.
-Improved fibromyalgia symptoms and function — Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire scores decreased from 65.72 to 40.91, indicating a reduction in symptom impact.
-Improved physical quality of life — Physical health scores increased from 28.0 to 44.3.
-Improved mental quality of life — Mental health scores increased from 33.3 to 43.2.
All four measured outcomes improved significantly (p < 0.001).
Why Does This Matter??
Fibromyalgia can significantly affect pain levels, physical function, mental well-being, and overall quality of life. These findings suggest that major ozone autohemotherapy may warrant further investigation as a potential complementary approach for people living with persistent fibromyalgia symptoms.
⚠️ Important Limitations
This study included only 45 patients and did not have a control group. Because it was observational, the findings cannot establish that ozone therapy caused the improvements. Larger, prospective, controlled clinical trials are needed to confirm its effectiveness and safety.
