As World Breastfeeding Week comes to an end, I want to take a moment to not only celebrate breastfeeding but also the people who support, nourish, and help families find their way through the early days, months, and years of parenthood.
As a birth doula and lactation counselor, I’ve had the honor of witnessing so many different birthing and breastfeeding journeys. Some are straightforward. Some take patience, troubleshooting, and a lot of support. Most look completely different than what was originally imagined. All are worthy of celebrating.
There is no perfect way to breastfeed and there is no perfect postpartum journey.
What every family deserves is evidence-based information, compassionate support, and the freedom to make informed choices without shame or judgment.
Breastfeeding is natural—but that doesn’t always mean it’s easy. You shouldn’t have to struggle alone or wait until you’re overwhelmed to ask for help. 💕
You deserve to be supported. You deserve to be heard. You deserve care for your whole family and your whole journey.
Happy World Breastfeeding Week! 🫶
