I spent the last several days in Costa Rica, dying to self, resting and renewing my spirit, mind and body (to learn more, watch my latest videos).

In order to sustain my restoration, I'm taking a break from daily posting for spiritual maintenance.

No worries, I have the sun & the son behind me 🙏🏾

I'll be back soon, and I hope you will be ready to learn and grow with me when I do!

It's truly not a setback, it's a setup to accelerate you!

...you ever feel like when you're constantly hurt, frustrated, inconvenienced that God has forgotten you? Punishing you? Overlooking you? Well, going through customs, upon arrival, He let me know that all of those ways I've been feeling was a choice and not the message He's been trying to convey.

When I landed in Phoenix in May, God tapped me. Corrected me. I was wrong and He was letting me know why.

When I landed in Costa Rica, yesterday, He confirmed for me what He's been trying to say that I have been utterly RESISTANT to acknowledge.

Take a listen!! Listen without resistance (if you feel that's where you are in your spirit). Then, let me know how this resonates.

SELF-CARE SEPTEMBER TIP 30🎉🎉🎉

How many of you love love? I do! 🙋🏾‍♀️

When we are in relationship with a partner, we do not love them once a week or infrequently. We do not wait until the relationship is bad to show love. Most of us enact our love daily. So then why, when it comes to loving ourselves, do we do so sparingly?

We have a day where we wash our hair or go to the hair salon/barbershop. We get a manicure and/or pedicure every other week, and a massage once per month (if that). Is this how infrequently we would love on our boo?

Some of us wait until we are exhausted, overwhelmed and burnt out to center our wellbeing. Would you only love your partner when they feel totally neglected and ready to leave the relationship? No? So why do we love ourselves so poorly? Why must there only be special occasions to love ourselves? Don't we deserve better? The best?

You deserve all the love you so freely give away and that begins with the love you lather yourself with! Every morning we should ask ourselves: how can I love myself today? Every evening we should ask ourselves: have I shown myself love today? Self-love is the best love. Love yourself fiercely!

SELF-CARE SEPTEMBER TIP 29:

This one is hard but real simple.

Ready?

Don't take everything personally. Not everyone thinks about you as much as yourself does.

Folks are out here living through a pandemic, battling white supremacy at every turn, handling their own life issues; just trying to survive. It might be possible that they didn't attend to your text, call or email because life is lifing.

You cause yourself more stress by thinking that everyone is thinking about you.

Don't take everything personally.

You don't (have to) know everything!

SELF-CARE SEPTEMBER TIP 28: 🗣 You don't (have to) know everything!

One of the hardest things we tend to encounter when prioritizing self-care is resistance. That resistance comes in many forms, one of which being when we think we know the answer to everything 😒. **Kanye: You ain't got the answers, Sway!**

It's OKAY not to know everything as you continue on your wellness journey. If there's anything we definitely need to know, it's that. 🤗

You are not a project!

SELF-CARE SEPTEMBER TIP 27: 🗣You are not a project!

Do you love yourself fully or are you treating yourself like some sort of fixer upper, an incomplete project that you'll love when finished?

If you find yourself in a cycle of constant personal development, this word is for you!

Let me know how it resonates.

Y'all see this argument AJ Johnson's (Friday) wife is making about "showing love" by helping her bury him?

It's time for SELF-CARE SEPTEMBER TIP 26: Self-care is deliberately prioritizing your holistic wellbeing. Part of prioritizing our wellbeing means having life insurance policies on ourselves, our children, our partners and loved ones, and creating a living and last will and testament.

There are different types of life insurance: term life, universal, and whole life. You can discuss these with an agent, what is most important to note is: if there are people that rely on your income, obtaining a life insurance policy is important. If you have children, whether young, about to go to college, or even out on their own, you may want to apply for a policy that will cover living expenses for your family until they are able to be financially self-sufficient.

We have to begin discussing:
--Who can take care of your children in the event of your demise?
-- How would you expense your child's funeral if necessary (No parent wants to have to bury their child, but we have to discuss all possibilities).
-- Do your parents, and older family members, have life insurance? Is it current? Is the beneficiary up-to-date? Does someone know where the insurance documents are located in their home?
--If you have insurance, does someone know where the documents are located?

What about wills:
--Do you have a living will (so what happens if you end up in a coma?)
--What about a last will and testament?
--Do you want to be buried or cremated? If you want to be cremated, what do you want done with your ashes?
--Your will should also state what you want your family to do with your things. Who gets what, so these folks are not at the repass arguing over who gets your fur coat.

For the single folks:
--Do you have a pay-on-death beneficiary on your bank accounts?
-- Who knows where you store your will and insurance documents?

Single parents: in situations where the non-custodial parent isn’t involved,
--Do you have a power-of-attorney giving someone guardianship of your child(ren) in the event of your demise?

No more GoFundMe funerals! Create a will & invest in life insurance.

SELF-CARE SEPTEMBER TIP #25: Move your body!

Everyday, many of us are feeling the stress of existing within a global pandemic. Others of us have the anxiety from the pandemic plus the impact, and daily stressors, of racism. In fact, 70% of people surveyed last year, reported feeling or being stressed. It makes our physical activity that much more significant. Are you deliberately moving your body everyday? Even going for a walk will allow you to break the monotony of being indoors, and that can reframe your thoughts and shift your mood.

Physical activity can increase your endorphins, which will help us concentrate, increase our energy, to make it through each day, and will also support better sleep. Exercising regularly will lower blood pressure and stress hormones, help us tone, build muscles and lose weight. So go sweat today, knowing that sweating helps us detox and have poppin skin! Ultimately, staying active has physical, mental and emotional benefits.

Go walk, run, bicycling, do yoga ⬇️🧘🏾‍♀️, jujitsu or twerk! Just get up and move!

How did/are you moving your body today?

SELF-CARE SEPTEMBER TIP 24: Music is therapeutic! It is a balm for my soul. It lifts my mood when I'm feeling down or speaks to my spirit when I feel great!

Research has found that music can increase our antibodies and reduce our stress, but we already knew that music just brings us joy. We can find happiness in the nostalgia of a song, an artist's music, or a great album. Any song that will have you sharing stories as you reminisce on part of your adolescence, or singing it word for word, praising your creator, or dusting off and busting out your old dance moves is a song filled with joy.

This is why #Verzuz have been LIFE!!

I am all about a dope playlist! For the 80s, anything Bobby Brown, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Guy, New Edition or Luther Vandross is definitely going to have me dancing! A great gospel playlist, for me, must have Fred Hammond, Hezekiah Walker, John P. Kee, Kirk Franklin, Bebe & Cece Winans, and Marvin Sapp. I'm all about the 90s so 2Pac, Jodeci, Mary J. Blige, TLC, Xscape, Usher, Junior Mafia, Ice Cube, Snoop, OutKast, Goodie Mob, & Dru Hill. Listen, taking the time to think about who is on my playlist is bringing me joy!!

Today, cultivate peace and happiness by creating a joy playlist! Have a whole dance party! Me and my son are about to 💃🏾🕺🏽
