Reason #9 Why We’re Still Married: We’ve Learned to Adapt to the Seasons. ❤️

The people we were when we said “I do” 20 years ago are not the same people we are today. And that’s okay!

Life changes. We age. Our priorities shift. Children come along. Careers evolve. And sometimes life takes us through seasons we never saw coming.

One thing we’ve learned is that you can’t expect your marriage to look the same in every season.

What worked for us at 25 may not work for us at 45. We’ve had to learn, adjust, give each other grace, and keep choosing each other through it all.

Because a lasting marriage isn’t about staying the same. It’s about learning how to grow together. ❤️

Feeding a family of 7 nutrient-dense meals doesn’t have to be boring OR complicated! 🌮😂

Sometimes all it takes is looking in your pantry for an ingredient that can stretch your meal AND boost its nutritional value!

Tonight’s upgrade? Roasted sunflower seeds added to our taco meat! 🌻🙌🏾 More fiber, healthy fats, plant-based protein, and extra servings for my crew!

And the best part? My kids LOVE it! ❤️

Episode 8 of Why We’re We Are Still Married…DATING while married 🥰🥰🥰

We didn’t stop dating because we got married. ❤️

…As much as we could, with the tribe of children we have. 😂

After 20 years and five kids, we’ve learned that dating each other isn’t just about fancy restaurants, trips or getting dressed up.

Sometimes it’s dinner.

Sometimes it’s a walk.

Sometimes it’s sitting next to each other on the couch just hanging out with no children in sight. 😂

The point is being intentional about spending time together as husband and wife, not just Mom and Dad.

Life gets BUSY. Kids need you. Careers need you. Responsibilities pile up. And if you’re not careful, the person you chose can slowly become the person you simply manage life with.

We never want to just manage life together.

We still want to enjoy each other. ❤️

So yes…20 years later, we’re still dating.

We love to hear that one food is going to “fight inflammation,” but the truth is…it’s not just about one food.

Anti-inflammatory eating is about the pattern you build most of the time.

It’s the fruits, vegetables, beans, lentils, whole grains, nuts, seeds, herbs, spices, healthy fats, and quality proteins you include consistently.

It’s not about perfection, detoxes, or cutting out everything you love.

Start with what you can add to your plate this week. That’s where the real progress begins.

Taco night…but I made it work a little harder. 🌮💪🏾
Sometimes you just gotta look in the pantry to make things stretch!

As a dietitian AND a busy mom of five, I’m always looking for simple ways to add more nutrition to meals my family already loves, because dinner does NOT need to be complicated to be nutrient-dense. 🙌🏾

Tonight’s little upgrade? Roasted sunflower seeds mixed into our grass-fed beef. 🌻
They help stretch the meat while adding texture, plant-based protein, fiber, healthy fats, vitamin E, magnesium and other nutrients. Don’t get me wrong, by itself, my taco mix is nutrient dense. I needed to make this last 2 days, so why not make it even more nutrient-dense?

And the best part? It’s still TACO NIGHT. 😂🌮

No complicated recipe.

Just taking a familiar family favorite and making it work a little harder nutritionally.

That’s how I approach feeding my family: add nutrition where you can, keep it realistic, and make food everyone actually wants to eat. ❤️

Episode 7: Why We’re Still Married

Y’all seen the girlies talking about this right?

Everybody can have an opinion about your marriage…but everybody doesn’t need a VOICE in it. 👀❤️

After 20 years, one thing we’ve learned is the importance of protecting our marriage from outside influences.

Social media will tell you what your marriage should look like.
Family will have opinions.
Friends will give advice.
And sometimes, people who don’t have the best intentions will still have plenty to say.

We’re not saying you should never seek wise counsel. We’re saying be careful who you give influence over something they don’t have to live with.

Listen. Learn. Pray. Communicate with each other. And then make the decisions that are right for YOUR marriage.

Because at the end of the day, everybody else gets to go home…

but the two of you have to live in the marriage. ❤️
