I’m a little late expressing my gratitude, but I’ve made it 52 times around the sun and am going 10 years strong as a Personal Trainer. What a blessing. To all friends, clients and loved ones who wished me well on my birthday, I say thank you for making me feel exceptional, great and loved. Not only did I celebrate my birthday, I celebrated 10 years as an Entrepreneur/Personal Trainer. This is by far the most rewarding career I’ve ever had. Also, thank you to those who came out to celebrate with me, especially my Event Coordinator Mesha. She did an incredible job turning my gym into a beautiful, classy space. It was indeed the best birthday/anniversary party I’ve ever experienced. The love I received from clients, friends and family was simply amazing. I felt incredibly spoiled and pampered. Thank you all very much.

As you all know, 2020 has been quite a year, and we’ve all faced more challenges than usual. That’s why I’m so pleased to announce the Styles Fitness 2020 challenge award goes to a individual who put in a lot of hard work toward her fitness goals. Hard work that’s commendable at any time, but even more so in a year full of other obstacles, uncertainly and adversity. She started last January at a size 8 and now is a size 2 - a size she last saw in eighth grade. While this client has been with me for a few years, in May she fully committed to her wellness journey, showing consistency, determination and focus. She worked out 4-5 days a week with me and several times a week on her own - even doing two workouts a day on occasion. What’s more remarkable is that she trained 95% virtually at home and 5% in the gym. She coupled that determination with a strict diet to reach her fitness goals. So, I am pleased to announce Sweet Girl, a.k.a. Socrotiff Carruth, as the winner of this year’s 2020 Styles Fitness challenge transformation. Congratulations Sweet Girl! Here’s to an even sweeter 2021.

It’s pretty easy to take our jobs for granted. It’s really easy to forget that there are many people out there who would kill to be in our shoes. And, it’s easy to forget how valuable being self-employed or someone’s payroll really is. Whether you’re working full time, or part-time; whether you’re working in the industry you want to or not; whether you’re salaried or self-employed— be grateful. You have a paycheck coming your way.
I am very grateful for my job. Even days that I’m stressed or overwhelmed with the amount of work I have to do, I am still grateful to be employed, and I hope you are too.

One of the most important reasons to maintain proper form during weight lifting exercises is to prevent injury. Styles Fitness has gone International!!

Virtual training is the new revolution in fitness, and I’ve had the honor to host my first virtual training session with Ana Vieira McFee in Switzerland. I trained Ana 10 years ago in the US, before she moved back to Switzerland. I am excited that she chose me to help her with her new fitness goals, internationally!

The COVID-19 pandemic has opened doors for me to be more innovative & creative. I truly feel there is always an upside in a seeming challenging situation.

Although she’s thousands of miles away, I am very confident that Ana will be successful in reaching her goals. #getstylizedinternationally

It’s official, my client Shay started on June 3rd she was able to lose 18 lbs in 4 weeks!

Hard work, consistency and determination are key factors on reaching any goal. Shay was able to achieve this milestone by doing the following:

1. Paying attention to portions and incorporating more nutrient dense foods.
2. Incorporating exercise 6x’s a week.
3. Focusing on establishing healthier habits, rather than totally eliminating the bad ones she currently had.
4. Being consistent. What I mean by this is, if she had an “off-track” day, or missed a few workouts, she did not “throw in the towel”. She rather decided she was COMMITTED to her goals, and was going to MOVE ON!

You can do it too. Anything is possible, if you put your mind to it. It’s nothing to it, but to do it.....Let’s get it!! #stylesfitness #summer2020 #fitnessgoals

Happy Friday!! All calories are not your friend. Make a conscious effort to reduce the amount of calories you take in if you know you're eating too many. Simple changes can have a big impact on your health risks. Completely avoid trans fats, and replace some saturated fats with unsaturated fats. Good sources of unsaturated fats include oily fish, nuts and seeds and plant-based oils like olive and sesame.
Replace added sugars with sweet whole foods such as fruit. The amount of sugar in fruit is naturally low, and because fruit contains fiber, it reduces the rate at which sugar enters your bloodstream, making it a much healthier choice of sweet food. If you're like most Americans, you're not getting enough servings of fruit each day. Take fruit with you on the go as a snack, and keep fruit available in bowls at home.
Since added sugar is a major source of added calories in the typical diet, it's a good place to start. Cutting back has the beneficial result of lowering your overall calorie intake. Exercise is great for mental health; Research has shown that it can lower stress, improve mood and even decrease symptoms of depression and anxiety. But new research finds that a group exercise class may be even better for your mental wellbeing than a solo sweat session. Working out with Tamara has been a family affair for me and my two teenage daughters. In the group sessions she has individual exercises based on each of our fitness goals and keeps us motivated and having fun throughout the workout. It says a lot when teenage girls get up at 6 am for a Styles Session before school. The results say it all as my endurance and strength are at levels not seen in 25 years. Tamara makes it fun and has a great group of clients that makes working out a fabulous experience.
