If you have tried antidepressants and still feel stuck, numb, or hopeless, it is not the end of the road. You are not out of options, and it is not your fault.

Here are 3 symptoms you might not realize are worth mentioning to your provider:

• Feeling "not yourself" for months or years even while taking medication consistently. An estimated 30% of people with depression do not get better after trying at least two different antidepressants.

• Numbness or emotional flatness that has replaced the sadness but still does not feel like recovery. This could be a sign that a different type of treatment is needed.

• Feeling like you have already "tried everything." Advanced treatments like Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (Deep TMS) and Spravato (esketamine) are FDA-cleared options with high response rates that are covered by most insurance plans, including Medicaid.

Save this checklist for your next visit. Bring it with you. Advocating for yourself is one of the bravest things you can do when depression makes everything feel impossible. Schedule your appointment today.

If you’re afraid that your insurance won’t pay for mental health services in Colorado, think again.

Here are 3 facts about your mental health insurance coverage in Colorado that set the record straight:

- Both federal and Colorado state law require health insurance plans to cover mental health services at the same level they cover physical health conditions like diabetes or heart disease. Your insurer cannot cap your mental health sessions if it does not cap your physical health appointments.

- If your insurer is treating your mental health claim differently than a physical health claim, that is a parity violation. You have the right to report it to the Colorado Division of Insurance.

- Advanced depression treatments like Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (Deep TMS) and Spravato are covered by most major insurance plans in Colorado, including Aetna, Cigna, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, and Medicaid, after meeting standard medical necessity criteria.

Knowing your rights changes everything. If you have been avoiding treatment because you assumed your insurance would not cover it, this is your sign to check.

Want to learn how much getting advanced depression treatment would cost? Book a free consult. Axis will check your benefits for free at axismh.com/check-my-coverage/. No pressure, no commitment, just answers.

Share this with someone who has been putting off getting help because of cost concerns. That one share could change everything for them.

If she seems more irritable, overwhelmed, anxious, tearful, or simply not like herself, don’t reduce what she’s experiencing to a personality change.

Perimenopause can bring genuine changes in mood and mental health. Hormonal fluctuations during this transition can affect brain chemistry involved in mood, and for some women those changes become persistent enough to warrant professional support.

So start by believing her.

Don’t tell her to calm down. Don’t diagnose her. Don’t make her prove that what she’s feeling is real.

Instead, listen. Reduce the mental load where you can. Protect her sleep. Offer practical help. And if she wants to explore care, help her with the logistics without taking the decision out of her hands.

Axis created a free Perimenopause Partner Guide with practical advice on how to support the woman you love through this transition.

If this is you or someone you love, here’s what to do next.

Despite growing awareness around mental health, nearly half of those struggling with mental illness never seek treatment. The question is not whether effective care exists. It does. The question is what keeps people from reaching it.

At Axis Integrated Mental Health, we believe the biggest barriers to care are not clinical. They are practical. Stigma tells people they should be able to handle it on their own. Cost concerns make treatment feel out of reach. And confusion about where to start keeps people stuck in indecision while their symptoms get worse.

That is why we check your insurance benefits for free, handle all prior authorizations, and connect patients with programs like Colorado's Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) that can provide paid time off for treatment. We want to remove every barrier we can between you and feeling better.

If you have been waiting for the right time to ask for help, this is it. Your provider can walk you through your options. Schedule your appointment today.

Share this with someone who needs to know that help is closer and more affordable than they think. Axis Integrated Mental Health has more resources at axismh.com to help people take that first step.
