This is what a partial highlight + root touch-up maintenance appointment looks like from start to finish. ✨

For this service, I’m refreshing the new growth, maintaining coverage at the root, and strategically brightening the areas that actually need it instead of re-highlighting the entire head every single appointment.

A partial highlight is perfect when your existing blonde still looks good through the mids and ends, but you need brightness refreshed around the face, through the top, and anywhere the color has started to grow out.

The goal is maintenance — not starting over.

We refresh the root color, place the highlights where they’ll make the biggest visual impact, process everything carefully, tone the blonde, shampoo, condition, and finish with a blowout so you can see the complete result.

This is how I like to keep dimensional color looking fresh while preserving the integrity of the hair and the work we’ve already created.

Extension artists, I want to show you the method I created for cleaner, more consistent K-tip rows.

I call it The Perfect 10 K-Tip Method, created by me, JC Ramos.

Instead of threading every section one at a time, I take a 10-piece section of extension shield, cut it out as one block, place it directly onto the head, and then use a crochet latch hook to pull ten evenly separated strands through at once.

That gives me ten clean sections, ten consistent placements, and a much more organized foundation before I even begin attaching the K-tips.

For me, the biggest benefit is the spacing.

The rows stay incredibly neat, the sections stay controlled, and every bond has its own place without me having to constantly re-measure or guess.

It makes the entire install feel more precise, more efficient, and more visually consistent from row to row.

This is a technique I developed through my own extension work, and I’m officially branding it as The Perfect 10 K-Tip Method.
