Sometimes our kids remind us how to slow down without ever asking us to.

A bug on the sidewalk.
The way the sunlight hits the trees.
A cloud that looks like something magical.
The first cool breeze of fall.

They notice what we’ve learned to overlook.

And maybe there’s something healing in letting ourselves pause long enough to notice it too.

We don’t always need to add another tool, activity, or thing to our day. Sometimes regulation can look like stepping outside, taking a breath, and letting a child remind you that the ordinary is pretty amazing.

What’s something your child has noticed lately that made you stop and see the world differently? Tell me below.

Sometimes we get so focused on finding the *next thing* to fix, we forget to ask a really important question:

**Does my body actually feel safe enough to recover?**

We can spend thousands of dollars searching for the perfect protocol, supplement, detox, or treatment… while overlooking the simple things we can do every day to create an environment that supports healing.

More rest.
Less pressure.
Feeling safe in your body.
Getting outside.
Connection.
Play.
Nourishment.
Regulation.
Giving yourself permission to slow down.

These things may not come in a fancy bottle or have a $3,000 price tag, but they matter.

And this is something I had to learn through my own health journey.

I put together a **FREE guide** to help you start thinking differently about creating an environment where your body can move out of survival and toward recovery. Head to the link to have it sent right to your inbox: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=JJz3Yn&g=YzQgiL

Use this tool in the moment you have a BIG emotion.

Because.... imagine if you stopped trying to calm the emotion down— and let your body move it through instead?

Sometimes you don’t need to think your way through an emotion.

You need to let your body move through it.

Try this Roar & Release exercise I created in Vital-Side when you’re feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, angry, or like you have a lot of energy stuck inside.

Make the sound. Move your body. Let it out. Then take a breath.

You’re not trying to get rid of the emotion. You’re giving your body a safe way to express it and move through it.

Save this for the next time you feel like you’re holding it all in—and come back to this practice when you need a safe way to let it out.

Sometimes setting a boundary looks like saying no when you really want to say yes.

It looks like not overexplaining.
Not answering right away.
Taking a break.
Leaving when something doesn’t feel right.
Letting yourself change your mind.

Every time you listen to what you actually need, you’re showing your body, “I’m paying attention. I’ve got you.”

Boundaries aren’t selfish. They’re one way we learn to trust ourselves.

One of the ways we can get better at hearing what we actually need is by slowing down.

Meditation gives you a chance to pause, check in with your body, and notice what’s there before you automatically push through.

If you’re ready to start, meditations are a simple place to begin. Head to the link to see my limbic specific mediations: https://vital-side.com/pages/meditations

It’s not the quality time.
It’s not the education.
It’s not the money spent…
Or the classes you enroll them in.

It’s how YOU show up for you.

It’s the way you speak to yourself when you make a mistake.

It’s letting your children see you have needs, boundaries, desires, and dreams outside of motherhood.

It’s showing them that rest doesn’t have to be earned.

That your body isn’t something you’re constantly trying to fix.

That emotions aren’t something to fear.

That you can be overwhelmed without abandoning yourself.

That you can disappoint someone and still be a good person.

That you can say no.
Change your mind.
Ask for help.
Take up space.
Try again.

Because our children aren’t only learning from what we teach them. They’re learning from what we model.

And one day, that relationship may become part of the blueprint they use to build their own.

Sometimes we spend so much time trying to fix, fight, push through, or figure out what’s wrong that our body never gets the message that it’s safe to come out of survival mode.

Safety can be simple.

A slow breath.
A walk outside.
A moment of stillness.
A laugh.
Connection.
Rest without guilt.
Reminding your body, “I’m here. You’re safe. We don’t have to solve everything right now.”

Healing isn’t always about doing more.

Sometimes it’s about creating enough safety for your body to finally exhale.

If this resonates, Reset is a simple place to begin.

Our introductory course teaches simple, practical tools to help you start showing your body that it’s safe.

You don’t have to do everything at once. Start with small, consistent signals that remind your nervous system it doesn’t have to stay in survival mode.

Learn the tools, practice them, and begin creating more safety in your body, one step at a time: https://vital-side.com/pages/reset-7-day-course

One of the biggest shifts in how I look at chronic illness is moving from asking, “What is attacking my body?” to also asking, “What is my body responding to?”

It can be easy to become focused on finding a bug, virus, parasite, or other pathogen to explain chronic symptoms.

And yes, infections can affect the body in significant ways.

But the body is more than a collection of isolated symptoms. Your nervous system, immune system, gut, hormones, and other systems are constantly communicating and responding to information.

When we look at chronic illness through that lens, we can begin asking different questions:

What is my body perceiving?
What signals is it receiving?
What systems are being affected?
What might be keeping the body in a prolonged stress response?
And what does my body need to support a different response?

This doesn’t mean your symptoms aren’t real. And it doesn’t mean every illness has the same cause.

It means we can make room for a bigger picture. 🤍

What if crying is actually your body regulating itself?

This is especially important to understand when it comes to our kids. When children have big emotions, their nervous systems can become overwhelmed quickly. Crying can be one way their body releases that activation and begins moving toward a calmer state.

Instead of always trying to stop the tears, we can help our kids feel safe enough to move through the emotion. ❤️

Regulation isn’t about teaching our kids not to have big feelings. It’s about giving their nervous system the safety and tools to process them.

Nervous system regulation isn’t just about feeling calmer. 🧠✨

Your nervous system is constantly communicating with your gut, hormones, immune system, digestion, sleep, and so many other systems in your body.

When your body is experiencing prolonged stress or dysregulation, those systems can be affected too — which is why we have to look at the whole picture, not just the symptoms.

Supporting the nervous system can help shift the body out of a constant stress response and create a different environment for the body to function and respond.

That doesn’t mean we ignore the gut, hormones, or other systems. Those areas are ALL addressed while working on the nervous system because it's an important foundation for supporting the body as a whole.

Your symptoms are real. Your body is communicating. And there are ways to help it respond differently.

Want to learn more about our most comprehensive program, designed to help you communicate safety to your body and support your nervous system, gut-brain axis, and all the systems of the body?

We can sometimes put so much pressure on ourselves to be “regulated” that we forget what regulation actually means.

It doesn’t mean you’ll never feel overwhelmed, stressed, emotional, excited, angry, sad, or activated again.

Those experiences are part of being human.

The difference is having more awareness of what is happening in your body and more capacity to move through the experience without getting completely swept away by it.

You start recognizing your patterns.

You learn what helps you come back.

You become more familiar with your body’s signals.

And instead of expecting yourself to stay calm through everything, you learn that you can move through the highs and lows and return to yourself again.

That’s a much more realistic — and compassionate — way to think about regulation. 🤍
